PART V - creating threads

__________

If you want to start making graphics in the book cover club, it's a good idea to create or request a nice thread design. You can also use HTML to keep your thread more organized and easier to look at.

Things to remember when designing & opening a thread:

•Don't go crazy with blockquotes. It generally doesn't look good when every chunk of text has that yellow background under it.

•Try to think of an original, appealing name for your thread.

•Don't steal/copy any names or designs. It doesn't make the original designer very happy.

•If you create a new kind of graphic, your thread could gain a lot of attention.

•You aren't supposed to use HTML in discussion titles. If you do, a moderator will probably remove the coding in your title.

Questions:

What is bumping?

When you go to the book cover club, all of the discussions at the top have been commented on recently. If your thread isn't getting any requests, you can bring it back to the front page by bumping. Most people just type in "BUMP" when doing this. It stands for "bring up my post," according to Wikipedia.

Why do some threads have blacklists and VIPs?

Blacklists are people who are no longer allowed to request. They may have broken some of the thread's rules. VIPs (very important people) are usually allowed to spam, can request when the thread is closed, and will be bumped to the top of the queue, meaning their requests will be done sooner.
