Over time (Sequal to Beautiful In New York)

Chapter 7

It was close to four and Maya was busy serving one of the customers.
She smiles as she take sthe lady's order but at the same time keeps on eye on the other people.
After she takes it she goes to the kitchen.
Sbe brings out a cup of coffee and then she sees how Josh entered the bakery.
Immediately he is surprised to see her there but also wondering why?

"Hey. What are you doing here?" Josh asked.
"I'm just helping out your sister-in-law. Coffee?" Maya asked.
"Yeah, sure. It's nice of you to help out. But I didn't think you would do so much. I saw the invitation to my niece's nineteenth birthday next week. Are you sure you want to take on so much?" Josh asked as Maya gave him a cup.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I've always taken on a lot," Maya said and her phone rang.

She saw that it was yet again Shawn and put the phone back in her pocket before she went to a customer who wanted to pay.

"You ignoring your step-father?" Josh asked and Maya sighed.
"He's just bothering. Besides I don't have time to be on my phone right now. Topanga is out so I have to make sure everything goes smoothly. She'll never forgive me if something happens to the business," Maya said.
"I'm glad to see that you are happy. I was a bit worried when I saw you the last time. You kinda looked a bit... How can I put it? Depressed," Josh said and Maya smiled.
"Yeah I'm okay. Really but I have to head back to work," Maya said.
"Yeah me too. The studio doesn't stand still for anyone. Thanks for the coffee. See you," Josh said as he threw money on the counter and was gone.

"Wow this place is busy," Topanga said as she came through with Auggie.
"Thanks. I have to say it is nice to work for a bit again. I never got the real opportunity to do that in Europe. When you work for your step-father you always have to go according to his schedule. Now I have my own one and it's fixed so I can alternate between my work and my personal life. Why don't you go sit down then I'll hi get you something from the kitchen Augs?" Maya asked before she disappeared behind the counter.

"You know you spoil him way too much? You are acting like his aunt. Did you run into Josh again or not actually?" Topanga asked.
"Just now," Maya said as she put a custard doughnut in front of Auggie.
"But I don't think I wanna tell him just yet about me staying permanently. Shawn is trying to get me back in Europe which of course isn't going to happen but I don't want to jinx it yet. So I'm gonna keep it a secret for a bit longer. Won't hurt him. Listen do you have a few minutes tonight? I want to discuss a few things for Riley's birthday next week," Maya said.
"Yeah of course. We can talk after work," Topanga said.
