The Lonely Priestess

* in the meantime with Lucy at her families mansion at the center of the village *

Lucy: *looking out the window while other children are playing * dad why can't I go out and play with the other children

Jude: you know that you can't go outside you need to stay inside to learn all mommies spells to be a great priestess like she was

Lucy: I know but why do I need to be the next priestess there must be other dragon girls that can do it as well

Jude: it's tradition that a Heartfilia is the priestess because we have the natural gift to open the gates to our village and close it to keep us safe from other races

Lucy: but why are other races so dangerous why can't we talk to them and work something out in piece

Jude: our people did live along side with other races but they all turned against us and before we could know what happened we were forced into hiding it's not that we can't try but it's dangerous and that's why only trained warrior dragons and hunters leave the village

Lucy: so are we like the weakest race in the world that we need to hide like that

Jude: no not really we are the strongest but we are not big on numbers and what others fear or don't understand they want to destroy that's why we are hiding to keep our people safe and your mom was the privies priestess that opened the gates now it will be your turn to that as well once you get older

Lucy: I know dad and I want to do what is best for everyone but do you think maybe I can go out and play sometimes it gets lonely here

Jude: *gently strokes her head * alright sweetheart you can go out and play when you are done with your studies okay if you learn one spell a day we can go out a lot of times

Lucy: yay * hugs Jude tightly* thank you dad I love you so much

Jude: I love you too Lucy * kisses her forehead gently * I need to do some paperwork but after I'm done we can have dinner together okay sweetie

Lucy: okay dad I will try my best to learn mommies spells

Jude: okay sweetie * walks out of her room and closes the door * I know that she will hate me for this but I can't lose her as I did with you * looks at a painting of layla* I miss you so much my love but I will keep our daughter safe and she will be a great priestess like you where * walks away to his work room*

* with Lucy in the meantime *

Lucy : mommy was such an amazing priestess I hope I can be as strong as her some day * keeps studying hard *

* the years flew by and she was studying hard as her father asked her to do she kept hoping that her father would let her go outside to interact with other dragon's but she never went outside of the mansion gates she did everything that was asked of her until her eighteen birthday has arrived and she went to her father *

Lucy: father may I speak with you

Jude: of course Lucy what is it that you want to speak about

Lucy: do you remember the promise you made to me that you will let me go outside and play with the other children

Jude: yes I do remember that promise

Lucy: then why did you never let me outside I kept studying and I did everything you asked of me what more could I have done to please you to keep your promise * start to tear up *

Jude: you did everything I asked and you learned all yours mother's spells and trained hart to use them as well but I could not let you out to suffer the same fate as your mother

Lucy: what do you mean you said that mother died because of an illness that had no cure for it at the time

Jude: *turns away from her * I lied the truth is that one of the towns people that had bad hunts for days and couldn't do his job, got kicked out of the hunters group, and couldn't support his family. He tried to ask your mother to open the gate so he can try to hunt down some animals to get back his place in the hunters group, but your mother was to tired and had little magic left, because she was sick but she pushed her self because we had to get ready for the winter, but she refused to open the gate again, because if she did she would not be able to let him back in. The hunter didn't take no for an answer and he attacked your mom with his claws, and wounded her really bad, she managed to get back to the mansion. Her last words were to make sure that you are safe, and she died in my arms with a smile on her face * start to cry while he is still turned away from Lucy *

Lucy: *start to cry as well and she runs out of the room and goes to her bedroom*

* a few days has passed and Lucy didn't leave her room or talked to her father or any of the staff in the mansion *

* Jude called together the young warriors from the village to his mansion *

Jude: I called you here today to ask one of you to look after my daughter because tomorrow is the day she will be given the title priestess and will take on the role of gate keeper I need one of you that will look after her every day and night and I will pay whoever takes the job so they will never have problems again

Eric: that sounds nice and all but we are warriors not bodyguard or babysitters for a rich child

Jude: I know that this is not an ideal work for warriors like you but I need only one to look after my daughter

* the crowd start to talk to each other *
Eric: sorry priest we are not interested * they all leave *

* whit Lucy in her room *

Lucy: I'm done being the good girl I'm running away and I will never come back to this place * climb out her window and jumps on top of the mansion wall but slipped and falls on someone that was walking by* ouch ouch that hurt

* the person she fell on passed out *

Lucy: oh no what have I done what should I do * gets nerves because she never been outside to know where to take him *
