Chapter 3

Detestable

Louise gave me a ride to school today. As she left the parking lot, a silver Mercedes shined in my eye. I stared at the car until I saw Jacob and his friend Liam in the car. As soon as he was out of the car he turned around and met my eyes then he turned away. I walked towards my chemistry class. When i was in front of it, i walked in knowing that the dude is going to be there. I walked through the space between the desks trying to ignore the fact that he's there then i sat quietly in my seat (the seat next to him). I wanted to ask him why he went missing for four days even though we don't seem to like each other, but we haven't even been introduced to each other yet and also he doesn't know that I know his name. I turned myself around trying to drag the words slowly out of my mouth.

"You..." I muttered slowly.

"I'm Jacob" he said without knowing that I was going ask him why he was missing.

"Um...I'm Rose" I said dazzeled by his beauty. "You were missing? We're you ill or something?" I asked.

He paused then said "Yeah, um... I was quite ill" he answered.

Then we stopped chatting because the teacher started talking. We had to discuss in pairs about 'how can the paint stop metals from rusting?' everyone started chatting and the teacher went around the class to hear opinions.

"You're Different" Jacob said to me.

"What do you mean different?" I asked.

"Hard to control- I mean different from anyone else" he said.

"Hope that is a good things" I commented.

"NO- I mean... yeah" he answered not sure.

What is wrong with this dude? He things I'm weird or something, he doesn't like being near me. Why? What did I do to him?

The day passed really quickly. When I was home, Mum asked about school and I lied as usual. When it was time to sleep, I sat in my bed before sleeping and wondered what Jacob meant by 'hard to control'? I'll ask him tomorrow in biology. Actually never mind, he hates me and tries to stay away from me so why should I should I go anywhere near him.

In the morning, I told Louise about school and about Jacob. She agreed with me that Jacob might dislike me for his own reasons. She gave me a ride to school. In the parking lot I saw him standing next to his Mercedes with Liam staring my way. He was quiet in biology as usual and we had to do an experiment but he didn't like doing an experiment with me. I was picking up the chemical we were given but then Jacob's and my hand touched while picking up the chemical at the same time; it was like an electric shock went through me, his hand was like ice cold.

"You're hand is really cold!" I said to him.

He looked at me in a hatred way then turned away. In lunch time Jess told me that he was staring at me. I turned to meet his gaze but he looked angry. After last lesson we met at the parking lot. Liam was talking to me about random stuff but Jacob was silent all the time.

"Hey, Rose" Louise called to me as soon as she was out of her car.

I introduced her to them and Liam's eyes were never off Louise as he started talking to her and he was really nice to her. But Jacob was not nice to me at all, as if I'm his enemy. I looked at Jacob angry then he grinned at me.

"Let's go Louise or we'll be late" I said to her.

"Ok, we'll see you later then" she said to them.

'Never' I heard Jacob muttering as if he wants me to hear it.

Why does he hate me? Why? Why? What did I do? Gosh. 'Il detest moi' I muttered to myself, yeah he does. I was feeling bad and I needed to call my mom.

"Mom I'm going over Louise's house and I won't be late" I said to mom on the phone then hung up after she said okay.

"Are you okay?" Louise asked.

"No, didn't you see the way he looked at me it makes me feel bad and ugh..." I explained.

"Do you like him or what?" Louise asked.

"I don't know" I said quickly. "But why does he hate me? I want to know" I retorted.

"I just have this weird feeling from the first time I saw him and now I'm starting to kind of hate him because he ignores me" I said angrily.

"Well, I think he's hiding something that he doesn't ant you to know." Louise finally said.

"I feel the same, but he acts as if I was an enemy to him. I never have seen someone like that before."

"Just ask him or something" Louise said to me.

"As if that helps, I told you he ignores me. Anyway i gotta go now, I'll see you tomorrow" I said hurridly. "I'm sorry for making you to give me a ride to school" I apologized to Louise.

"Don't worry anyway it's fun to get to see your school" she said to me. "See you tomorrow"

"Bye" I said then walked away.
