Bakugo had no fucking clue what to do in this situation

Normally, he prided himself on being able to think clearly to get out of tough situations. But, this time, it seemed fucking unreal.

Sitting 100 feet away from him was a fucking mermaid. Real, genuine fucking merman. His crimson eyes reflected fear towards Bakugo. His matching hair was slightly blown by the wind.

"H-hi?" Bakugo managed to stutter out. The creature gasped, making sounds that obviously didn't belong to any human language. Bakugo felt discouraged, but he took a step forward. The boy flinched away but didn't move. He started taking slightly faster steps towards the boy until he reached him.

The boy's face radiated pure terror.

Bakugo kneeled down to get on the same level as the mermaid. They made eye contact for several seconds, and Bakugo saw that the boy visibly calmed down.

"C-can I touch you?" Bakugo asked, obviously knowing that the boy wouldn't understand him. He reached his hand up, seeing his gaze widen again. But, he pushed forwards and put his hand on the side of the boy's cheek. Despite living in the ocean, his skin was extremely warm.

Surprising Bakugo, the boy made a soft, purr like sound and nuzzled into Bakugo's hand like a kitten, smiling. Bakugo could only stare in awe, for the mysterious creature that was just terrified of him was nuzzling into his hand happily. He felt a sense of comfort.

Bakugo smiled.

"This is going to be a mess, isn't it?" Bakugo said

- Kirishima's POV-

It was a cool day, so I decided to go to my usual spot to sit on the land. The place was fairly hidden away from public beaches, so I could freely sing and enjoy the land.

All of my friends hated me for going on land. I could tell it was because they were worried about me, but if I steer clear of humans, what's the big deal? I never understood it.

I sang a quiet tune while I played with the grass beneath me. It takes forever to drag myself over here, but it was always worth it.

I've loved the land since I was a child. I would go to my father's library and read books on how the land was, and as I grew up, I became deathly curious. So, a few weeks ago, I started to do this, and it was just as magical as I had hoped.

The movement of the sun shone through the trees, casting a yellow-orange tinge on everything around him. The birds sang pretty songs in the sky, taking chances to swoop down to pecks at the ground with the squirrels. I loved the feeling of the grass, so much that I found myself wanting to have been born human.

If I ever said that out loud, I would be considered a disgrace. Humans were looked down upon by mermaids because of their pollution to the environment and how they target merpeople as conspiracies. While I couldn't say anything about the pollution, that's terrible, I understand their curiosity with merpeople. I have a fascination with the land and everything that lives on it.

It was just like any other day that I go into the land. I was relaxing in the sunlight, but, suddenly, I heard a loud rustling noise in the bushes. Assuming it was a squirrel, I turned around and my eyes widened.

I saw a boy. Not a boy like me, but a human boy. His hair was light blond and it looked spiky, and so dry compared to the mermaid hair that I've seen all my life. His face was a clear pale, leading me to look at his eyes. They were a crimson color, but it was different than mine. They were brighter and more experienced.

I felt scared. I shouldn't feel scared, but when you're in this situation, you can't really do anything about that. The boy said something, but it was in a human language that I didn't understand.

He began moving closer to me, looking cautious. I felt scared, but soon enough, his hand closed softly on the side of my face. I loved the feeling of his skin on mine, so I nuzzled into it comfortably.

What the boy didn't know was this was how merpeople comfort their mates, so I biologically couldn't help calming down.

I looked up at the boy, seeing him looking at me with sparkling eyes. Soon, I realized the time and began to panic

'I have to go! Uh, you probably can't understand me..." I said as the boy looked at me in confusion. I pointed at the moon, and then the ocean, and then his face filled with realization.

He looked as if he wanted to say something. As I started to drag myself away, I heard him go "Oi!" or some sound like that.

He pointed to my head and then pointed to himself. I understood immediately what he was trying to tell me. The wind picked up, making me shiver. I could almost hear him saying it.

'Remember me.'
