After a few hours of packing we were at the other end of the portal again.

"And so the tale comes to an end." Said the goddess with a smile as she closed the portal.

"Damn... I will miss those snacks." I said as I saw the last window to my bedroom fade.

"Well. You got better things here." Marinette replied.

"I shall officiate the wedding posthaste!" Said an excited Ever Faithful.

"No way! Not here!" Natron responded. "You need guests."

"Yeah. I want horsie to be at the wedding!"

"I think you forget the most important part!" Kraid interjected. "Rob is still looking for a way back, and we must take Shana and Rhuk back home."

"Yes. The journey is far from over. We just finished the hard part. Find the gods, save Shana, and make sure I planned a proper return."

"But how are we supposed to continue, there's no other way to take you back home." Lowri said confused. "I think once we take Shana and Rhuk to their home this journey is over."

"No. I'm staying with you for a while." Rhuk said. "I want to continue this journey. I hope you don't mind, my love."

"It's fine. My sister and I will wait for your return. But you must come back with treasures!" The ogress said with a smile. Her plans would change later on.

"It's a promise."

"We still need a way to take Robert back to his world without loss." Stated Ever Faithful.

"I heard rumors of a mysterious man from another world who moves between spaces as he pleases." Natron said. "We should look into that."

"I see. You will continue this journey. Let me help you, then." The goddess smiled and opened a portal to Rhuk's village. "This will shorten the travel time."

"Wait! The kobold needs to return to her home first." Rhuk explained.

"If you insist. I will keep this portal open for three days then. But you will need to walk your way back to the Red City." We appreciated her kindness, however we forgot to use that portal and traveled to Rhuk's home by foot.

"I'll miss mom and dad. But I have been waiting for my grand tour since I was little!" The furry girl said with a smile.

"To the Red city then." I said pointing my sword. "This adventure is over, and a bigger one just began."

With those words I declared my rebirth complete. A new road of adventures awaited, but this story, which I confide to all of you, is over.

The end is not yet written, our adventure will be told as we cross paths with other adventurers, strong willed souls which changed the fate of Avlaan and Krinam forever.

As for my new family, to this day we are a happy team of adventurers. Every now and then we take breaks, but the adventures never end. The day I died was the day I was born anew. And it was a new beginning for all of us.

...

Marinette walked into the room with two mugs of ale. One was for her, the other, which was only half full, was for Robert.

"Are you writing on your journal? You know no one will read it, right?" She said as she handed a mug to her husband.

"Well. I got nothing else to do until Kraid calls us for our next expedition."

"You should change things a bit. Spice it up. Maybe kill off Natron, or make us fight an ancient god."

"This is autobiographic. It must be accurate. And she's tired of getting killed."

"Natron the immortal." Marinette laughed.

"How many times did we assume she was dead only to hear her maniacal laughter at the end of some dark tunnel?"

"Dunno. I lost count. You could at least end it with 'I woke up. It was all a dream. I will always remember those friends that never existed' That's popular in writing."

"It would be false, and also bad writing."

"But autobiographies don't sell!" Marinette gulped down her ale.

"As if we needed money. We are adventurers!"

A loud knock on the door ended their conversation.

"Guys!" Natron's voice came from outside the house. "Kraid wants to go after an old tome held by some crazy, powerful, guy! We should stop him!" With the girl's words began a new adventure.

The end always yet to come.
