-Six months later-
"Hey Winnie.." Joe said
"Oh hey Joe." She said as she finished up her surgery notes.
"Happy Birthday." He said
She smiled at him. "Thank you. How are you doing?" She said
"Doing good. What about you?" Joe said
"I'm doing well. Tired but well." She said
"Well you have four kids to take care of. I don't blame you for you being tired." Joe said
She let out a laugh. "Well that is true." She said
"So do you have plans for tonight?" He said
"No..my mom is watching the twins. Little James thinks because he is 13 now he doesn't need a baby sitter. Carter pretty much does his own thing now." Winnie said
"Would you like to go to dinner with me? As friends..I could use a friend" he said
"I would love too. And I could use a friend too." She said as she squeezed his hand.
He smiled at her. "So I can pick you up at 6?" He said
"Yes you can." She said
"Dr Rogers the OR is all set up for you." A intern said
"Thank you. See you tonight Dr Taylor-Barnes" he said as he walked backwards.
"See you tonight Dr Rogers." She said with a smile.
That night she was doing her make up in her bathroom. Bucky walked in to see her getting ready.
"Where are you going?" He said
"I am having dinner with Joe tonight." She said
"Steve's dad?" Bucky said
"Yes Steve's dad." She said as she finished her lipstick.
"Oh well have fun.." he said
A few minutes later Joe showed up at the door. Once they were out of sight Bucky called Steve. They agreed that Bucky was call back after Joe brought her home.
They continued to have little "just friends" dates. Steve and Bucky were on the phone one night after the dates had been going on for 5 months.
Joe and Winnie were on the front porch with Bucky and Kannon spying with Becca. "They aren't doing anything just talking like always." He said
Bucky heard the key in the lock.
"Winnie..I would very much like to take you out this weekend." Joe said
"Two dinners in one week?" She said
"I'm ready for us to try this with me and you. If you are okay with that." He said
"I would love that." She said
Joe kissed her cheek. "Goodnight darlin." He said
"Thats new.." Bucky said
"What?" Steve said
"He kissed her cheek..and I'm pretty sure he called her darlin." Bucky said as he left the living room.
The twins followed him up stairs to their rooms to call Nikki. Bucky and Steve continued their conversation about football and their band.
