"WHERE HAVE YOU two been all morning?" Maisy rudely asked Kenzie and Hayden, barely looking up from her black acrylics.
"Work's been super busy Mais..." Hayden quickly said, making sure Maisy couldn't detect the lies in his voice.
"That doesn't give you an excuse to ditch us for breakfast!" Brandon answered, eying both Kenzie and Hayden simultaneously. "What will everyone else think if you two are off doing other things?"
"That we're dating just like Maisy wants?" Kenzie asked rolling her eyes.
"I clearly didn't say ditching us was part of the deal!" Maisy yelled back.
"Okay, we're sorry Maisy. It won't happen again," Hayden answered, plopping down next to Brandon on the floor next to Maisy's locker.
"So Kenzie, how's math going?" Maisy asked Kenzie innocently. Kenzie knew math referred to Johnny, and 'going' meant Kenzie's cooperation with Maisy's deal.
"Math is going great." Kenzie said simply. "And no, I don't talk to Johnny if that's what you mean,"
"I'm glad you don't. Makes it a lot easier for all of us," Maisy smiled. Kenzie had to take a deep breath to avoid bunching Maisy in the face. As she was doing this, Lauren and Nadia took their daily walk past Maisy's locker. Luckily, Brandon and Maisy didn't notice so there were no snarky comments about them. Their eyes locked, Lauren mouthed something about a phone, and then Lauren and Nadia disappeared as if they never were there. As Maisy continued to talk about the shape of her new nails, Kenzie felt a buzz in her lap.
