"This is my dream and I can change it! THIS IS MY DREAM," yet the moment I screamed those words a tentacle swung, striking me in the middle of my body sending me flying back.

I crashed into the building behind me. I forgot this feeling... the feeling of air ripped out of my lungs and my bones shattering. As I collapsed on the ground I saw Knight run to me, his sword coming down on me... I couldn't let out my final scream as my world faded to black. Is this over? Why do I feel so numb. I should be screaming in pain yet I feel nothing. Am I dead? Is this what death is like?

As I felt my eyes open I was disappointed. I woke up the same as I use to. As if the past few weeks never happened. That familiar pain in my throat from screaming and the bruises from flailing in my sleep. "I wish he really did kill me...," I mumbled as I struggled to sit up. I'm back to my own personal hell. A place where my friend betrayed me and I'm damned to stay there forever. My heart was broken, my motivations were gone, and I felt like a failure. My eyes fell to my alarm clock. "I'm late," I whispered as I laid back down.

I felt time ticking away. I guess those weeks of relaxing made my body not use to the pain anymore. I didn't bother to get up and I debated on going back to sleep. Maybe this time I can finally die. I felt my heart pulse hard and I recoiled. It felt like a tightened fist in my chest. My upper back and jaw started throbbing. I clutched my shirt as my door opened. There were screams and like a light switch, my world was blackened again.

My body felt cold and weightless. "Am I in the sea?" I mumbled to myself as I slowly opened my eyes to see the blue open sky. I was floating on my back in water. It wasn't the ocean but a lake. I didn't bother to move and I closed my eyes. I felt good, the best I've felt in a long time. Even if a monster comes to kill me... I'll let them. I won't fight back. Seems like I finally gave up. As my body was gently rocked back and forth by the ripples in the water I could feel something coming closer to me. It was slow, almost taking it's time. I stayed true to my word and didn't move. I just waited. The water seemed to make it disappear. The pain, anxiety, fear.... it all washed away. My muscles loosening, and I felt lighter than air.

I waited for the terror that never came. I felt a gentle pair of arms lift me out of the water and hold me close. They felt human, but I've been tricked like this before. I opened my eyes ready to see a nightmare only to be rewarded by Knight looking back at me. We didn't speak, not a single word. Seems what I thought was a lake, was a pond. He just slowly carried me out of the shallow waters and laid me amidst the flowers under an apple tree. I saw him pick up his sword and throw it into the water before sitting next to me. I closed my eyes and I felt his hand on my cheek. He was so gentle. The way he was brushing the hair out of my face. I was betrayed by my mouth and asked, "Why."

He stopped and signed. "I failed to protect you. I let my feelings get in the way, I killed you to stop the suffering. I.... I'm sorry," He said with the most emotion he's ever conveyed in my presence. The pain in his voice, I didn't expect to hear. I sat up and hugged my knees. "I never thanked you for protecting me. I assumed since I made you up I didn't have to. So Thank you," I whispered and he looked confused. "Make me up?" He asked. "It's nothing," I smiled.

At the end of the day this is just a dream. "Have you noticed something?" He asked and it was my turn to be confused. "The nightmares are gone," He smiled and I paused. I stared at him in disbelief before slowly looking around. "He's right. The sky is beautiful and clear. The water is pure, and nothing is muddled or eerie. The scenery is so green and peaceful. I can't remember the last time I saw it this way. Everything feels so calm," I thought as I scanned everything I could see. "Then what will happen to you," I asked quietly. "Hm, I'm not sure. If I am a figment of your imagination then I have no idea what's in store for me... I am a knight with the sole purpose of protecting you," He said standing up. "I guess this is goodbye," I said sadly. Knight smiled at me before kissing my forehead. "Goodbye my Princess," he whispered and I blacked out. Nothing hurt, I was relaxed, but my eyelids felt heavy. I slowly opened them to see (guys name) sitting in a chair looking at his phone. I blinked a few times, "am I still dreaming," I mumbled and it caught his attention.

"Nice of you to wake up Princess," Knight smiled at me. "Where am; I what happened," I said panicked as I looked around at the hospital room and the IVs sticking out of me. "You're in the hospital. That should be obvious. From what I overheard, you had a heart attack," He frowned. "I see....then why are you here," I asked calming down. "My Dads a doctor here. I came to see him and I saw you get wheeled in," He said standing up. "That's where I've seen him. His Dad works here and I use to come to the hospital quite frequently," I thought as I looked down. "I'll get your parents," He said walking to the door. "No wait," I said quickly and he stopped. He looked surprised. "What is it," He asked confused. "Why. Why are you with me," I asked embarrassed. "Hm? I guess I've grown fond of you," He smiled and I felt my face heat up. "What do you mean," I said embarrassed.

"Well I've never had a girl openly admit to dreaming about me. Then calling me her knight. To be fair I did think you were odd, but after hearing about your nightmares and everything I became a little flattered. We didn't even know each other's names and you picked me to protect you," He smiled. Then he chuckled when he saw my face grow redder. I looked up to see him now standing over me close to my face. "I don't think I could stand someone else protecting you Princess," He whispered and I was so red I couldn't respond. He cupped my face and I managed to squeak out, "what do you mean."

"Wow you're going to make me work for it aren't you," he smirked before kissing me. I melted and when we parted I was dazed. "I know I should have asked earlier but will you go out with me Princess," He smirked and I nodded. "Great now I'm going to get your parents. I bet they'll want to see you as much as I have," He smiled and I blushed again. He walked out of the room and I smiled as I stared at him leaving. I swore I saw him in Knight's armor before he disappeared around the corner. I'm not sure if my nightmares are really gone, but at least I'll know Knight will be there whether I'm awake or asleep. I'm safe.

Thank you my Knight...
