Scott POV
I'm kicked back on the couch, watching something on TV that doesn't make sense to me. Adam is doing something in the kitchen. I couldn't tel you what, though. I hear a lot of footsteps come down the stairs, letting me turn to watch Raine descend down the stairs and her friend, Holland. I watched as Raine gave me an assuring nod. She'd done what we talked about.

I stand leaning against the wall right outside her room, waiting for her to come out. Yes, I was eavesdropping. After entering to give her our address to have her friend come over, I made it seem like I left. I didn't.
"Possibly some clothes," I hear Raine sigh.
Clothes, of course. I bit my lip suddenly, knowing that she was wearing a girl friend's clothes. No, not girlfriend. A girl as a friend. Well...maybe not a friend.
Never mind.
"Yes, please," Raine sighs again. "Alright. Bye."
So, Holland is on her way here, to see Raine. I wanted Raine to see some people she's familiar with, to help reconnect with who she is. I know that she doesn't know who she is anymore, considering what just happened. I don't want her to feel like that because, even though that things took a turn for the worst, she's still who she is. No matter the name change.
Raine falls silent, and I listen to her silence. At this point, I'm leaning against the wall, my arms crossed over my chest, listening to the silence that fell over the place. Suddenly, footsteps raised my glance to the door as it reveals Raine in the doorway. She pauses in her footsteps, looking at me.
"Were you just eavesdropping?" she asks me, offended obviously.
"Was I?" I ask.
"That wasn't convincing," she breathes.
"Holland's coming?" I change the topic quickly.
"Uh..." Raine pauses. "Yeah, you heard correctly, then."
I smirk. There was this look on Raine's face that held a glimmer of guilt. She looks down at her feet, rocking back on her heels.
"You shouldn't have been so uptight with her, you know."
"Excuse me?" Raine raises her glance defensively to meet mine.
"I mean, you acted pretty harsh to her. You were the one who called."
"Are you trying to give me advice to my friendship because I-" Raine was rambling until I interrupted her.
"When she comes here, you should talk to her about who you feel."
"Easy for you to say," she mumbles, expecting me not to hear it, but I did.
"C'mon." I push myself off the wall, looking at her closely. "Talk to her."
"I just did, didn't I?" she returns.
"You're smart," I laugh. "No, I mean talk to your friend."
"Why are you so worried about this?" Raine asks me.
That is a really good question. I guess, if I had to answer, I would tell her about how she doesn't need to feel alone and question who she is. Because her friend, the one person that knows who she is, will help her realize that.
"Just...promise me you'll talk to her."
"If I say yes, will you drop it?" Raine asks.
"Maybe," I respond, being an ass as I always seem to be.
"Then, yes."
"Promise?" I look at her.
"Promise," she rolls her eyes, handing me my cell phone back, placing it swiftly into the palm of my hand. She walks past me, making me smirk.

I'm surprised. They trot off into the kitchen. As soon as they disappear, my phone goes off. I look down at it, seeing Chloe's number. Crap. I scoop up my phone, wishing I didn't have to answer. I move towards the door, opening it quietly. I disappear out onto the porch, answering my phone.
"Hello?"
"Heyy," Chloe's voice slurs. "You wanna hang out tonight?"
"Um..."
"Pl-please," Chloe hiccups.
Scott, you've made a mistake. I want to slap myself physically across the face, but that would cause damage to my face. "No, Chloe, not tonight."
"But whyy?" she asks, slurring her words more.
"I'm busy."
"With what? You're...other g-girl?"
Eh.
"No. I'm just not feeling up to it tonight."
"Right. You selfish asshole. D-Don't call me again," Chloe slurs, spitting out the words that didn't hurt me. Frankly, it made me laugh.
"You're the one who called me."
"Fuck you!" she screams, hanging up on me.
I laugh as I take the phone from my ear, realizing how much of a dumb-ass I really am. I made a mistake like this and the girl is always knocking at my door expecting something. I fling my head back, wishing I could go back to three weeks ago when I slept with Chloe. A mistake I wish I could take back.
I guess I've made a lot of mistakes. A lot. I'm not exaggerating or simplifying the truth. I've made quite a few since I turned eighteen.
I glance up at the lightly fallen rain. The rain was constant and steady, creating perfect sleeping conditions. That's what I needed. Sleep. I could feel the heaviness in my eyes, and the crick in my neck from having Raine fall asleep on top of me. Speaking of which, she looked kind of shocked to wake up laying on top of me. I had to laugh when she wasn't looking. She was so exhausted that she doesn't remember falling asleep in my arms. I eventually fell asleep as well, laying back. I remember her snuggling closer to me, too, which only made myself laugh a little more.
I smirk again, realizing that these past few days have been interesting. With Raine coming into the picture, Adam finally being happy, and my mistakes being shown, life has took flips and dives. I simply settle back and listen to the rain.
