fingertips traced along the memories we share
like the edges are made with care
a day so far it seems
replayed over and over
a memory so colorless
locked the words away
frozen in time
looking back we wonder
wonder why it's so important
wonder why our faces have melted to this gray
wonder why our our smile has frowned
wonder why we've drowned
this water
our biggest fear now over top of us
limited breaths we breathe
hoping it's enough to save us
from this world we live in
this hue of blue fills these lungs
like protesters fill the streets of Hong Kong
the eyes we once adored
now glossed with white
the emotions once portrayed
now divinely diminished
to what now is our normal
this heart
once beat for only you
now running slow
this smile
now cracked and broken
this life
now drowned out
by what we once held high
this world
imperfections riddle it's core
yet we continue for hopes of prosperity
to which may lead, or will it?
