It was the day Lee Taeyong was going to get married. He sat in his chair as the stylists prepared him for the big day. With everything going on, he did nothing but stare at his own enemy staring back at him in the reflection. He felt by staring at himself, he would somehow disappear from this day–and life.
"You're all set, Mr. Lee." the words broke his thoughts.
A heavy sigh escaped his parted lips.
"Thank you. Make everyone leave.""You'll be la-"
"I said make them all leave."
"Yes, sir."
In a matter of seconds the room filled with nothing but bitter quietness. No other bodies breathing or living in the same room as him. His eyes closed to stop the pounding headache making its way.
The silence was interrupted by the quietness of the door. Taeyong's eyes flashed open, waiting for the person to speak, while staring at the person through the mirror. The shadow stepped forward and revealed his father. Taeyong's shoulders relaxed and stood to face his father.
"You're going to be late." his father stated.
"Who cares. I'll show up whenever I want. It's my marriage anyways." the younger one leaned against the table.
"If you're late, it'll make our family look bad." his father answered.
"You already did. Why try to make it up now?"
In seconds, his father left a sting on his left cheek. Taeyong just sat there for a second before reaching for his cheek. He scoffed when his eyes met his fathers'.
"Was that supposed to hurt? It's probably nothing to you since you've endured so much pain in your life. Nothing will ever hurt more than you killing your own wife and blaming it on your own father to get his position. You're pathetic. I'll see you at the wedding..dad." Taeyong pushed past his father and made his way downstairs.
On the way down, he ran into his only friend. Nakamoto Yuta.
"Do you really want to do this?" Yuta asked.
"I have no choice. This is how my life was ment to be. Now, get out of my way my friend." he pushed past Yuta.
"I can't let you marry her. This isn't your life Taeyong. This is not how it's supposed to end. If you marry her, you're just as much of a coward as your father." he called after Taeyong.
The boy stopped in his tracks. He turned to face Yuta. He made his way back up to the younger one.
"So what are you suggesting, hm? To run away and live however I please? To go out into the world, with no experience, and somehow manage a life I can live with?"
There was a long pause.
"Yeah, I thought so too." Taeyong turned his back once more.
"For all my life, I've worked for your family. When my best friend was killed by your fathers' hands, I wanted nothing more than to get my revenge. I wanted to kill you because that's all he had left. His precious son." Yuta walked towards Taeyong. "But, as annoying as it was, you came to me. You came to me that night and comforted me. I could've killed you then and there. But instead, you ended up helping me.
Through the years we've known each other, I couldn't imagine killing you anymore. I couldn't imagine killing my best friend. I learned, from you, that no matter how hard life gets: to never give in. And here you are, caving in to what life wants. So," he paused and stood face-to-face to Taeyong. "Are you going to go down there and ruin your life forever, or are you going to run away and live a life you want to?
Whatever you choose, I'm there with you."The two stared off for a minute before Taeyong broke into a soft smile and looked away. His eyes met Yutas' again.
"What's your plan then?"
