Elwin and Kris were in the midst of the first battle of the day. It started out as those fights typically do, Elwin was the first to set up his attack by transforming his arms into two long reptilian claws, quickly followed by Kris pulling out two keys and summoning each.
The fight was on.
Everyone was at the edge of their seats, eyes peeled towards the action as the two went back and forth. Kris sending spirits to attack, Elwin countering them. They were surprised to see the two were so evenly matched.
"This could be anyone's game, that's clear."
"If I was in this game, I would have already won it."
"No one asked, Bradley."
Eventually, after snapping one of Kris's spirits out of reality, Elwin made a jump at Kris. Tackling him to the ground, Kris was just barely holding him off, pushing his forearm against the sharp claws of Elwin's animalistic claws.
"Wow—" Kris said, literally breathless, "is this a new form?"
"Yeah—" Elwin responded quickly, also breathless, "haven't got the whole animal form down just yet."
"You'll get there."
"Thanks..." he gasped, pushing down, "have you been working out? You're super strong, and you look great."
"Oh..." Kris shrugged, clearly flattered, "thank you, I have. I actually started going to a gym...have a trainer and everything."
"Cool, cool cool cool," Elwin didn't know how to appropriately slash into his friend's face, but he figured the fight wouldn't end unless he did.
Realizing his next move, Kris pulled his other arm away from Elwin's face to grab one sliver key, stammering out, "Open—gah—the gate of Ermis's—caduceus!"
Then smack, right into Elwin's stomach came caduceus, not a spirit, but a staff.
He sent Elwin flying off of Kris, as he summoned the key right below him, and as it slid into the world he had to slide with it.
Elwin retracted his claws, rubbing his sore stomach and covering his mouth. Kris stood up, ready to attack with his newly arrived staff, but was a bit taken aback as Elwin suddenly keeled over to throw up.
It was all just coming out at once, and it wasn't pretty.
"Ooo, that'll be a nasty one to clean up."
"Oh gosh," Elwin croaked, "those street tacos were a bad idea."
"Street tacos!" Kris gawked, "you know you can't handle that kind of authentic flavor, you white-headed git!"
"Who says git?"
"I say git! What was that Ronan doing giving you street tacos! You have the stomach of a coward!"
"I do not!"
"Yes, you do! When that guard gave you a jolly rancher you had to spit it out because it was too sour!"
"It was sour!"
"It was watermelon flavor! When has watermelon ever been sour?!" At this point, Kris was just waving his staff around haplessly. He turned to the crowd, particularly where Lamia Scale was sitting, "Hey Ronan! What were you doing letting him eat that kind of stuff! He has a sensitive stomach! He gets heartburn easily!"
