I flopped onto my bed with a sigh.

“I’m exhausted,” I groaned. “I hate flying.”

“Then why did you let Matt bring you abroad? We could have gone to Cornwall or Devon or somewhere.”

“I love abroad. It’s sunny. And I like the thought of flying. Just not the act of it.”

David rolled his eyes and flopped onto his bed, beside mine.

Matt had insisted that, since I had a girlfriend, and since David was in the middle of a divorce, he was the only one likely to bring someone back to his room while we were here.

When I pointed out Leanne, he said they’d only gone out twice, both times for coffee, so that wasn’t a real relationship yet. He’d therefore ended up with the double suite, while David and I were in twin beds.

I was stuck with the sex-god for the duration of the holiday.

“This isn’t too bad.” David sighed and wriggled into his mattress.

He glanced at his watch, now set to local time, before groaning.

“I might go to bed. I’m knackered.”

“Mm,” I mumbled agreement, but made no move to get up and change for bed.

David pulled me to my feet and kicked open my suitcase.

I rooted through it and found my pyjama bottoms, decided to unpack in the morning, and let David use the bathroom first. I changed while he had a quick shower.

When he came out of the bathroom, I felt my breathing hitch in my throat.

Rivulets of water were dripping down a sculpted, bronzed torso.

Rippling muscles in David’s arms and torso tensed and stretched as he reached up to towel his hair dry.

There didn’t seem to be an ounce of fat on his body, despite the fact he was basically living on take-aways since he came to live with us, and never seemed to have time to go to the gym.

“Shouldn’t be staring, Spud.”

David’s voice broke into my thoughts.

“You’ve got a boyfriend.”

“Huh?” I asked blankly, before blushing and shaking my head. “I wasn’t staring.” I lied. “I was just… thinking.”

“Oh?” David said sceptically.

“Yeah, I…”

I sighed and went into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and hair, washed my face and went back into the bedroom.

David was dressed in his boxers and an old t-shirt, spread out on his bed on his back, his eyes closed.

He didn’t stir as I came back into the bedroom, and I wondered if he’d fallen asleep already.

I got into my own bed and snuggled down under the duvet.

I could hear David’s deep, even breathing from the bed next to mine, and opened my eyes again to watch him.

“What’s the matter?” He asked without opening his eyes.

“Huh?”

“You’re quiet. What’s wrong?” He looked across at me and opened his eyes.

“I’m just thinking… About Dale.”

“Oh?”

I nodded.

“He’s hinted at… going further. With me.”

“Oh,” David said again.

“I don’t know if I want to or not.”

“How come?”

“Well, I… I like him,” I said quietly. “But I don’t know if I like him that much. And I never really pictured my first time with him…”

“You’ve not… You’ve never…?” David asked awkwardly.

“No,” I mumbled, blushing.

“If you like him and he likes you, I don’t see why you shouldn’t do it,” David said.

“Do you regret your first time?” I asked, and then blushed at having asked such a personal question.

“I… I don’t know,” David muttered. “I mean… I’d known the girl a long time, and we’d been friends before we became lovers, but… we both knew we’d made a mistake the morning after. Things got weird between us, and we stopped seeing each other. But while we were in bed, it felt… right.”

“So… you wish you hadn’t done it?”

“I guess…”

I sighed and rolled onto my side to face him.

“I don’t want to regret my first time,” I murmured.

“So, do it with who you want to do it with. If it’s Dale, it’s Dale. If it’s not, it’s not.”

David yawned and rolled onto his front, wrapping his arms around his pillow and closing his eyes.

I followed his example, making myself comfortable and closing my eyes.
