David stopped his Beetle outside Dale’s house.

“I won’t be long,” I told him, before hopping out of the car and going up to the front door.

I’d been here several times before, so when she opened the door, Dale’s mum let me go straight upstairs.

I knocked on Dale’s bedroom door and opened it when I heard his reply.

I felt my breath hitch in my throat when I went in.

“Oh, God, Triss.” Dale leapt up from the bed, where he was cuddled up against a half-naked blonde girl. “I thought you were my mum.”

I raised my eyebrows.

“You’d be okay with your mum seeing you like this?” I asked scathingly. “You might want to grab a pillow, by the way.”

I motioned his crotch, which was bulging rather obviously, and he quickly put a pillow… there.

“I guess this doesn’t matter. I was actually on my way over to break up with you, anyway, so…”

“Yeah, right,” the girl snorted.

I shot her a scathing glance.

She seemed completely unconcerned that she was about to burst out of her bra; in fact, she seemed rather proud of her nearly nude body.

“I’ve got some stuff going on right now, and I don’t have time for a boyfriend.”

The girl laughed mockingly.

“What is your problem, you bitch?” I snarled at her, my temper snapping.

She looked at me in shock.

“I really don’t have the patience to put up with crap from a blonde-headed whore right now,” I hissed.

“Tris-” Dale began fruitlessly.

“My brother kicked me out last night. He found out about us,” I told him. “I think Le-”

“Please, there is no you and him.” The girl said viciously, interrupting me. “He did it for a bet. Fifty quid said he couldn’t get you into bed within six months.”

I stared at Dale for a moment, who was looking horrified, before I smiled sweetly at the girl.

“Fifty quid says him giving me a blowjob wasn’t on the cards.”

“Dale!”

I heard her disgusted screech as I left the room, half-smiling to myself, half-crying.

I ran out to David’s car and slid into the passenger seat.

“Are you alright?” David asked me as I fastened my seatbelt.

“Yeah, sure, fine. Just drive,” I told him.

“You look pale,” David said, starting the car engine.

I shrugged.

“I just broke up with Dale.”

“Why? You like him.”

“Well, it could have been the fact that he was in bed with a girl when I went in there… Or maybe it was the fact that he only would out with me for a bet… Or the fact that he thinks I’m just worth fifty quid… Or the fact he’s a dickhead… One of those reasons.”

“Sorry, Triss,” David said quietly.

I shrugged, and turned to stare out of the window.

David drove us back to Ava's house and coaxed me from the car.
