y/n and cooper have to pretend to date, this leads actual confessions.

it was the end of school, cooper and y/n were smoking weed behind bleachers like the cool kids they are. they didn't do this often, only when one of them was going through something or needed to vent. today it was cooper, he recently just broke up with his, now ex and was having a hard time getting over her.

"y'know you have the weirdest tastes in girls. you never find the right girl, i swear all the girls you've dated are toxic or just ghost out on you," y/n says with a grin. this didn't make cooper feel better whats so ever. cooper sighed taking the blunt away from y/n smoking it.

"really trying to make me feel better huh?" cooper says rolling his eyes.

"ugh y'know i don't do this emotional stuff, im sorry coop," y/n said putting her hand on his arm giving him a squize and sympathetic smile. she quickly snatched the blunt from cooper's hand. as she smoked it he stared at his childhood best friend studying the features on her face. he had wondered what it would he like dating her but never go as far as developing feelings until now.

"ayo fuckwad!" a voice shouted rudely interrupting cooper's thoughts.

him and y/n turned their heads to see one of the jocks, braden and cooper's ex lexus walking hand in hand. cooper's expression immediatley falters. lexus is the last person he wanted to see today, she hurt cooper deeply by cheating on him two times during their relationship.

y/n glanced at cooper giving his arm a comforting squeeze before handing him the blunt. she made her wau closer to the pair. "
"why don't you give us a favor lexus. stay the fuck away from cooper got it? he doesn't want to see your ratchet ass face."

"stay out of my business l/n," lexus stated crossing her arms.

"anything that affects cooper negatively is my business."

braden scoffed crossing his arms before asking, "what are you his new girlfriend? ayo cooper! make sure you can provide this girl before she ghosts on you too!"

unexpectedly y/n punched braden straight in the nose causing him to stumble and fall back. lexus let out a shriek. then, cooper quickly ran up to y/n wrapping his arms around hers before she would cause a fight. he had to hold her back, unless she would hurt braden more or throw a punch at lexus.

"control you're goddamn girlfriend you shit!" braden yelled still on the ground.

"you didnt answer his question. is she cooper?" lexus asked crossing her arms. cooper stood there not knowing what to answer. his mind turned blank and he did the unexpected, put his arms around y/n's waist pulling her close to him.

"yeah lexus, she is my girlfriend. im her proud to be boyfriend. she treats me way better than you did," cooper sneered his grip becoming tighter around y/n.

y/n was in shock of this, cooper and her were just friends, only friends. she didn't feel comfortable either having him say that in front of one of the most popular girls in school. all she could do is follow along.

"prove it."

the blonde boy turned his head to the shorter girl beside him smiling. he didn't know what he was feeling, it was nervousness but a good nervous. what he didn't realize was he was in love with his childhood friend for who knows how long. but, he only didn't want to ruin things because she always said, 'i'm not good with relationships, i'm not good with emotions.'

the girl felt shocked still but also excited. she's been in love with cooper for so long but was too afraid of ruining their friendship.

she watched cooper lean in slowly smiling, cupping the girls face with one hand. the girl followed wrapping her arms around his neck. she allowed him to initiate the kiss. in a second, their lips connected as they both closed their eyes taking in the moment, his hands move down holding her waist. they both knew it felt so right. it felt like the kiss went on forever, they didn't even realize lexus and braden left.

"cooper," y/n whispered as their lips parted. they touched foreheads staring at each others eyes.

"y/n i'm sorry i had to put you in that situation, i know relationship stuff makes you uncomfortable," cooper said still not realizing his arms were still holding her by the waist.

"it's alright cooper, but uhm, did that kiss mean anything to you?" the girl asked a bit nervous to his answer.

"did you want it to mean anything?" this left an awkward silence between them. they both didn't know what to think.

"i mean i might have, i also just might have had a crush on you for awhile," she giggled. "and i know i always say i'm terrible at relationships and that these things make me uncomfortable but maybe, just maybe this could work out? hopefully?"

cooper smiled.

"maybe, and maybe because i think i found the right girl."

;-; the idea was cute but i ruined it with the cliche line at the end sorry. i kinda enjoyed writing this, but maybe because it's cooper. anyways please send in prompts and requests! im struggling with writers block
