On the 9 3/4 platform people started gathering in order to embark their children into the Hogwarts Express. The crowd was full of laughter and crying, as friends reunited after the summer break and parents waved goodbyes at the kids that were ready to start a new year at the famous magic school.

At the far end of the platform, right next to the last wagon stood a girl that seemed rather absent and unbothered by all of the bustle. Her hair was long, falling on her shoulders in chocolate waves. She was dressed casually, in a pair of skinny black jeans, a black t-shirt and biker boots. She was struggling to get her chest onto the train.

"Let me help you with that!" said a kind voice from behind her. She slowly turned and saw a boy about her age, that had a few old scars on his face but wore the brightest smile she had seen that day. She smiled too.

"Thank you!" the girl said politely and got onto the train with the boy.

"You're welcome! By the way my name is Remus Lupin!" he said friendly and held out a hand.

"Hi... I'm Zoe Lux!" she introduced herself.

"Light of life, huh?" he translated with a knowing smile.

"Scis graece et latine?" (Do you know greek and latin?)Zoe asked definitely impressed.

"Paulo!" (A little) Remus answered really excitedly.

They continued chatting, mostly about language barriers and the impact they had over the course of history. Remus was really enthusiastic to be able to share his opinion. Zoe listened with interest, being amazed by how quickly she found someone so friendly. It was an unusual feeling... but she liked it.

"I almost forgot... you are in 6th year, right?"

"I think so..." she said a bit confused. Albus Dumbledore informed her of the basics of what Hogwarts meant but never told her exactly who her classmates were or which year she would be in.

"That means we'll have classes together at some point depending on which house you'll be placed in. For example, I'm a Gryffindor." explained Remus, but from her expression he could tell she didn't understand much.

He continued by introducing her to what students were like in Hogwarts and proceeded in asking where she had come from. At this Zoe's smile faded slightly. Dumbledore adviced her to tell the truth but only as much as she was comfortable. So she took a deep breath and said softly:

"I was home schooled one could say."

"That's cool. Your parents must be great wizards. Why didn't you come here sooner?" the boy asked.

"I never got a letter. About three weeks ago the principal came by my house and gave me an 'express invitation' i think he named it. I'm supposed to be helping in some kind of project due to my previous education." she tried to keep it as simple as she could.

The train was already moving and the scenary was passing by. Remus contemplated at her words for a bit which made panic rise in her bones. After what felt like ages Remus regained his normal expression and continued chatting, telling her more about her new school.

After advancing in the hallway of the train they stopped in front of a compartment. Remus opened the door and waved at the girl inside.

"Lily, this is Zoe! She just transferred here." he made the introductions.

The redheaded girl smiled and invited Zoe inside to sit with her. After that Remus took his leave saying he had something to do.

Zoe sat across from Lily and took in her image. Her hair was red like the fire, her skin white, spotted with freckles, and beautiful green eyes. She had a kind smile and radiated a certain warmth that Zoe hadn't felt in a long time. As they started talking Zoe felt that she will like Hogwarts. So she relaxed and enjoyed the train ride laughing with her new friend.
