A/N: UNEDITED

Once they arrived at Hogwarts Zoe was separated from Lily by an older looking woman called professor McGongal. She was presented how the ceremony would go and the rules that she needed to be aware of. Before leaving to assist the principal, McGongal announced her that she will receive a letter containing the details of the meeting regarding the project she was to be involved in.

After Dumbledore's speech everybody was seated in silance waiting for the Sorting Hat to be brought.

"Now, before the first years are sorted, I need to mention that this year we have a transfer student so please make her feel one of us! Zoe Lux! Please come up!" Dumbledore said in a gentle voice.

Zoe gulped, tension building up. The Great Hall was silent which made the girl hear her own blood pumping in her ears. She sat down and felt the soft touch of the hat.

"I see... I see! Seems like you've been through a lot! But lucky for you Hogwarts is home for all! But which house would suit you best? An outstanding Ravenclaw you could be, but you are more deceiving than you seem so a good match would be Slytherin, but there's a brave heart underneath... a strong character, very determined... Fight with your past to embrace your future, child! The best for you is... GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouts the last word and the red and golden table explodes in cheers.

Without a word Zoe heads to the table and sits next to Lily who is beaming. She gives her a hug and assures her that she will help her accustom. Then she went on about classes and who the professors were and so on.

Meanwhile, Zoe sat quietly, her head too full of thoughts to concentrate. After dinner and the castle tour were over, Lily showed her the dorms and it looked like they shared a room. They talked a little bit more about the next day and went to sleep. At least Lily did. Zoe was restless and kept on pacing around the room, as silent as a cat.

About an hour later she spotted an owl flapping her wings in front of the window. She opened it and the bird flew in dropping a letter, then flew out in complete silance. With a flowing motion she snatched the letter from the air and opend it.

Zoe,
I need you to come and serve a 'cherry icecream' with me since it's my favourite desert. We'll met in my office on the second floor behind the gargoyle statue. I have brought some friends over, but no need to be shy. We need to do some 'catching up' before we can start playing chess together.
Waiting for good news,
Albus Dumbledore

The note made little to no sense. She read it again and gave herself a slight facepalm. She grabbed the note and put some sneakers on. Running through the hallways she thought of the outcome of the meeting. It pained her, but the truth was too much to bare, she had to tell them.

*********

The first day of classes got Zoe completely and utterly unmotivated. She was having the best sleep of her life when a loyd voice thundered, making her fall off the bed. Standing above her was a redheaded, innocent looking, grinning devil. With a sweet 'good morning' she helped Zoe get up and without another word pushed her in the bathroom to get dressed.

About half an hour later they were sitted at breakfast chatting when maniacal laughter flooded the Great Hall. It wasn't quite as unpleasant as it seemed at first, but for some reason Lily made a grimace that gave Zoe an uneasy feeling. She wanted to ask what happened but the answer came without a word when four boys crashed right next to them.

"Oh my Lilypad! What a sight for sore eyes!" said a boy with round glasses while Lily huffed in annoyance.

Among the new faces Zoe recognized Remus and she saluted him politely, earning curious looks from the other boys.
