"Do you like me?", Taehyung suddenly blurted out his thought. He was curious and confused in the moment.
"Yes", Harin answered it straightforwardly. She was nervous though. She gulped down her saliva hardly.
"What? Why?", Taehyung asked again. He was more confused.
"Do I need reason to like you?", Harin looked straight in his eyes. Taehyung also didn't avoid the eye contact, maybe still shocked with her answer.
Suddenly, Taehyung reached for her hand that was still waiting for his response. Harin was startled. She didn't expect this. She thought she might be rejected.
Taehyung stood up from the ground with her support. He chuckled but then, it turned out to be a laugh.
"Why are you laughing? Were my words... funny to you? I'm dead serious now", she was a bit upset because of his laugh. She might slap him anytime if he didn't stop laughing.
He was aware of her reaction so he stop laughing for his own safety. Didn't want to get beaten twice in a day.
"Yes. You're a brave girl. Then, let me ask you... What you were saying to those bullies... Is it a lie? ", Taehyung wanted a confirmation. He was staring at her.
"No, it's the truth. Kang Hajun, the owner of Glory Morning Group is really my father", Harin said. She tilted her head because she didn't understand the connection between her father and her answer before.
"Then why... You as a wealthy person, have feelings for me, a boy who has nothing excert his knowledge and school?", Taehyung approached her more. He bend down until their faces were in the same level. Their faces were only in few inches away.
Harin widened her eyes as their faces were too close. Taehyung smirked.
'Heart... Please relax'
"Hey, should we treat your wound first? It's bleeding again", Harin changed the topic. She cleared her throat out of nervousness.
Taehyung pulled his face from hers making the gap increased.
"Arasseo, to your house!", Taehyung exclaimed. He raised his hand high like a captain gave command to his sailors.
"What?", she was left dumbfounded when he started to walk away from the narrow street.
"Kaja! (let's go!)", Taehyung teased her more.
"Wait!"
⛵⛵⛵
"Why did you just let the bullies hit you? Why not fighting back?", Harin asked. She just finished applying some ointment on his wounds. They were sitting on the sifa side by side.
"I don't want to cause anymore problems. I want to avoid problems as much as I can ", Taehyung answered with a flat tone.
"Is it because your family?", Harin asked. She was eyeing him while waiting for his reply.
"Yes, I don't have a father so my mom and my sister are relying things on me now. I wanted to do well in my studies, become someone successful and treat them better like they should", Taehyung replied. She could see tears that threaten to fall in his eyes.
She patted her back to make him feel better. To show him that she was right beside him.
"You're my brightest star, Taehyung. You're the heat for my cold summer", Harin suddenly said, making him turned his head towards her.
"I always been watching you at the school. It might sound creepy though. Your smile is beautiful, you had a good brain, you have a handsome face, you have a nice figure, you are happy whenever you hang out with your friends. You did well, Taehyung. So be proud of yourself", Harin said. She wanted to lighten up his mood. She smiled widely.
"You know, Taehyung. Sometimes you need to express your actual feelings. Don't get it bottled up"
Taehyung blinked his eyes several times. But then, he replied her smile.
"You remind me of him", Harin pointed at the picture that was hanging on the wall. Her smile faded away from her face when she remembered the incidence.
Taehyung turned up his head towards the direction.
"Who is he?", Taehyung asked.
"He was my childhood bestfriend but he was gone in a summer... 6 years ago. It was all my fault that he died in a tragic way at a young age", Harin looked down. She was tearing up.
He patted her head. He gave her an assuring smile.
"Harin-ah, I promise that I will be someone that make you forget about the past, make you enjoy the present to the fullest and make you longing for a happy future", Taehyung said while smiling nonstop.
Harin defeated by his sincerity in his words. Her tears fell eventually. She sobbed.
Taehyung pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. He caressed her hair softly, giving her strength.
'She smell nice'
Her face buried on his left shoulder. She held the edge of his shirt tightly until her knuckles turned white.
'He smell nice'
After a few minutes of sobbing, Harin stopped. His shirt was wet with her tears. He released the hug. Harin looked at him wit a pair of sad eyes.
"Mian, your shirt is wet because of me", she realized that as she pointed her index finger at his left shoulder. She felt guilty.
Taehyung shook his head. He put his hands on her two shoulders.
"It's okay. Mind to share your story? It can reduce burden you feel", Taehyung said. He didn't expect her to have a deep old wound.
She was an expert in hiding her own pains.
Harin took a deep breath. She need more strength to open up her old wound. Moreover, they just met and he was no difference from a stranger. She never told the story to Jihyun yet but now, she would be sharing it with a guy she had feelings for.
