I probably should have put at least some effort into my appearance, but I couldn't be bothered. By this point, the security guard was used to my hobo chic look (arguably minus the chic), so I wasn't bothered. My dark hair was greasy, so I had tied it up into a high ponytail. I was dressed in an old Friends T-shirt and a pair of shorts that were slightly baggy in the ass area. It was a new low, even for me, but Pregnant Grace didn't give a damn about the way she looked.

That is, until she ran into the father of her child in the elevator.

"Grace?" Harry blinked. Props to him for not straight out gasping at my current state. I can't say that I would've done the same, had I been in his position. "What are you doing here?"

It had been a little over a week since I'd broken the news to him, and I hadn't heard anything. I had figured that meant he wasn't going to be sticking around. Even though I had been expecting it, I couldn't lie and say that it didn't sting. Maybe because Niall had been such a strong advocate for his parenting abilities. Or maybe because this wasn't just someone ghosting me, or a Tinder date standing me up. This was the father of my child completely turning his back on me. Yes, he was a complete stranger, but still.

"I'm just, uh, dropping off Niall's charger," I explained. "He forgot it at mine the other day."

"Oh," Harry nodded. He hesitated for a moment before adding, "I like your shirt."

I blushed. "Are you making fun of me?"

"What?" he frowned. "Of course not. I love Friends."

"Right. Me too." Wow. I guess sharing a child wasn't the only thing we had in common. Also, what the fuck was taking so long? The elevator was never usually this slow.

"So," Harry said awkwardly. He was struggling to make eye contact with me, but to be fair, so was I. "How're you doing?"

"Good, good," I nodded. "Still pregnant."

"Right." I watched his jaw clench slightly before he said, "I'm sorry I haven't called you all week. I just needed time to think things through."

"Oh yeah, don't worry," I said quickly. "I understand."
