Chapter IV-Pure numbers

Good morning class. Our lesson for today is pure numbers. You see, koreans have two kinds of numbers, the pure number and sino numbers. Pure numbers are their native numbers. Sino number is influenced by chinese. Please copy and memorize this numbers.

Hanggang sa natapos kaming lahat mag recite,

So class, ginagamit ang pure numbers , sa edad, sa oras, at pag kakabitan ito ng counters. Ang counters ay ginagamit ng korean to distinguished what is used to measure something or kung ano lang yung bagay na yun, example, one cup of rice, 밥이 한 잔 있어요. 밥 is rice, at ang ginamit na panukat ay cup which is 잔, now, 하나, 둘. 셋,넷, 스물 ,pag either sa limang yan ang ginamit niyong numbers, last letter will be removed tulad ng example ko, Mr. Anong number ginamit ko sa example ko?

통 - letters, telegrams, phone calls, emails, big fruits eg. Watermelon
그루 - tree

마니 - animals
채 -  buildings

How do we construct sentence using these counters? Here is the pattern, noun +  이/가 + number + counter + 있습니다 /있어요.
Let's have an example,
4 slices of pizza. 피자 - pizza

What is the noun in the sentence?

pizza - sagot namin

Very good. So 피자, ano naman ang ikakabit natin 이 or 가?

가 kasi walang 받침 , sagot ng isa naming kaklase,

Tama, lets continue, 피자가 anong number ulit at counter?

네 조각 - sagot ko

According to your discussion a while ago sir, 하나, 둘, 셋, 넷, 스물 when used with counters shall be 한, 두, 세, 네, 스무. in short remove the last letter. And as of the counter, since slices ang binibilang, 조각  ang counter na ginamit ko.

So lets continue again, 피자가 네 조각 있습니다 , kung gusto niyo ng formal or if casual, you can use 있어요.
