"Absolutely not!" The tough response was heard through the hallways of the castle.
"But why? We have time and we are not constantly in danger of dying like the last month demonstrated!" Argued the young mage. Callum had been insisting to Rayla for days now to travel over to the Banther Lodge even though they didn't have the best of experiences there.
"Callum! You have been on with this for an eternity! You need to shut up before I sucker punch you somewhere you want intact!" Rayla on the other hand, was not enthusiastic about the idea. When she was taken there by the inexperienced boys about a month ago, she almost died a couple times and had to threaten Callum's life to save all their asses from their crazy Aunt Amaya. Yep. It was something she really did not want to relive.
"But we could create new memories! Trust me, it's going to be amazing..." He said taking her hand onto his and making her turn around out of instinct. He saw Rayla's face shrivel up in a frown at her kind-of-not-really-lover. Their relationship had gone from good to great contrary to what the situation showed.
It had been six months since the events that took place where they returned Azymondias (or Zym for the children and Elf who took him back) to his mother, the Queen of the Dragons. They all celebrated and held an extensive party in remembrance of the fallen heroes and the ultimate victory that the two nations shared. They had both achieved peace. And not the peace that was seen before were both sides looked at each other with contempt but a genuine peace. For the first time since the humans were banished from Xadia, there has been a period of peace between both nations and the negotiations that happened right after the Dragon Queen woke up from her deep slumber laid out the ground rules for both nations with authorization of the King of Katolis himself Ezran with a bit of help from the now Commander Amaya, the Queen of the Dragons, and Janai the Sun-Fire Elf from behalf of all the Elves, were held as the Constitution that both nations had to follow. It was obvious that the Constitution could receive some changes since the members there didn't represent the absolute majority of their respective sides. And as expected there seemed to be a couple of rebel groups that denied the rule of Ezran, Janai and Zubeia and were out to take power for themselves or just instate anarchy.
But for now, Callum, Rayla, Ezran and Bait could finally take a break from being constantly watching their backs all the time. And Callum felt that it was the perfect time to share some quality time with his almost girlfriend.
"Just please! Just let us have a week there, please." The last 'please' had a little tone to it that Rayla absolutely hated and adored at the same time. It was just so stupid and childish and had no place on a grown man like Callum, but at the same time it was absolutely adorable when he did that.
She finally gave in and sighed, her hand on her face.
"FINE! I'll go with yah to this cabin of yours!"
Callum celebrated by pulling her close and showering her cheek with kisses as she went from a sour loser to a giggling mess as he continued to give her little kisses.
"H-Hey! Lay off!" She laughed as she pushed him aside, a wide grin on her face. "Just the two of us?" She asked with the slight anticipation of the answer.
Callum smiled with a light blush showering his face.
"Y-Yes, only the two of us"
Rayla's face lit up a bit as that was the answer she was looking for. He had been so busy with the Constitution and Ezran needing him for constant support from the stress of managing a Kingdom with half of its fighting force gone and low resources. Come to think of it, they haven't shared a meaningful moment together since the Quest was over. This maybe was the opportunity for both to be closer. To know each other on a more intimate level.
"I'll make preparations then, my lady..." Callum bowed in front of Rayla and she chuckled as she did the same.
"Just don't bring Elf Callum this time, if you do I swear we will separate" She threatened.
Callum let out a defeated sigh along with a childish groan. Rayla just rolled her eyes and patted his head.
"How could I end up with an adorable idiot like you?" She sighed finally.
