Dangerous Game

Chapter 7

"Ok I've got the- whoa ok I'll come back later," Maya said with a giggle. The two jumped apart startled and blushing furiously. Of course, Maya had to walk in at that exact moment, Nick thought. Nick got up, still bright red.

"I'm so sorry Mr Edgeworth I'll-" He said, going to go get Maya back with the drinks. Miles went to say something but stopped himself and looked down.

"No it's fine," he muttered, "but before you go after her..." he said, going an even brighter shade of red. Nick smiled.

"I feel it too." Nick said blushing, ''We can talk about it later if you'd like.''

''Ok,'' Miles smiled, ''I'd like that.'' Nick smiled back, staring at him for a moment longer before shaking himself out of his daze and running out the door.

He couldn't help the goofy grin that had plastered itself on his face. He'd only know Miles for a couple of days, and before that, it'd purely been terrifying rumours. But now he'd actually met him, it sent his heart racing and the butterflies in his stomach fluttering like crazy.

''Maya hold on!'' He yelled after her, coming to a stop next to her. She just smiled and raised her eyebrows.

''I was just leaving you alone to do whatever you were doing. I knew something exciting would happen while I was gone.'' She said shaking her head playfully.

''Yeah sure whatever you say,'' Nick said, laughing, ''But you also have the drinks. Miles told me something groundbreaking before you came back and I think we're going to need these.'' He took his and Miles' drinks off her so she could comfortably carry her own.

''So you've dropped the 'Mr Edgeworth' I see.'' Maya wiggled her eyebrows.

''Shut up Maya,'' He said playfully.

When they got back up to the office, Miles was still sat in his chair, blushing heavily. Nick put his cup of tea in front of him and smiled.

''Ah, you're back. Thank you, Maya, for the tea.'' He said, clearing his throat awkwardly, taking a sip.

''No problem Mr Edgeworth,'' Maya smiled, sitting down and taking a sip of her soda, ''So Nick tells me you have some groundbreaking evidence to drop on us.'' She turned to face him.

"Yes, I do. After everything that happened in court today, I don't think it's too surprising but... Amy is behind everything. The murder, and all the crimes I've been accused of over the last 9 years." He said, taking another sip of his tea. Maya's jaw dropped, putting her soda down on the desk. She was at a loss.

''You're not joking? It was actually her?'' She said, her jaw still agape.

''Unfortunately not,'' Miles said, continuing to sip at his tea.

''So we're going to have to put all we've got into getting her convicted for the murder and everything else. We just need evidence.'' Nick said, idly chewing his pen.

''Yeah, that's the tricky part,'' Maya muttered, chewing her bottom lip thoughtfully.

''I think I have something,'' Miles said, putting his cup down, ''Wright, remember how I said she wrote notes and how the police could never catch either of us because of them? If we present that to the court I think we'll be able to get her convicted.''

''Oh yeah, I remember you saying. Would you be able to get them as soon as? We need to figure out some more evidence to incriminate her. Sadly we can't just send her to jail because of testimonies.'' Phoenix said, smiling sadly at him.

''Yes. I know. I can get some now." He said, smiling back. The corner of Phoenix's lips tugged up into a smile.

"Really? Nice one. Shall we go now? We can go talk to Julian on the way back too if you want." He said, smiling a hopeful smile. Miles blushed.

"Ok. That'd be nice." He said, smiling back. Nick pushed his chair back and stood. Maya and Miles did the same.

''Let's go then,'' Nick said, walking towards the coat stand and slipping his coat on, smiling back at the two. Miles blushed, smiling back and walking towards Nick, who'd extended a hand towards him. He took it and they walked out the door. Maya shook her head and smiled, following after them.

wOO HEY SORRY ITS BEEN A WEEK WHEN I SAID IT'D BE OUT THAT NIGHT LOL i realised i had homework due the next day that i hadn't done and then literally as soon as I'd done it i just crashed out lmaoo so i tried to make up for it with a lil bit of hand-holding and loveliness with them both. also sorry the chapter's so short, the next one will be a bit longer, probably about the same length as the others (1000-1500 words) maybe longer. aNyway im rambling im gonna go finish my art project lol i hope you enjoyed!!! - Alec
