Jar

I was told to keep my feelings in a jar
And as any child I did
I grabbed a torn piece of paper
And wrote what i felt
When I finished I'd fold the paper gently
And put it in the jar
And a feeling of joy would come over me
Mama always said when the jar gets too full,
I'd have to empty it
And I did
But as I grew older I finally see what mother meant
What do I do with the jar in my heart
How do I know when the jar is too fool
Here i am folding my emotions carefully,
And putting in the jar slowly,
As if it is a bomb ready to explode
Now my chest is full of all these emotions
All the miniature bombs that may go off at any moment
What do I do?
I empty the jar
Before the bombs explode
Before I explode
