Yue was sure they jumped off from a cliff.

As to how they were still alive, she didn't know the answer.

Kuan took her to a place she has no idea it existed.

After they escaped their pursuers, Yue was surprised to see a van waiting for them at the outskirts.

She couldn't bring a word out of her mouth when he deposited her into the seats.

Exhausted, stressed, and sick, she allowed herself to fall into his embrace just before she lost her consciousness.

She woke up into an unfamiliar place three days after.

After being attended to by a kind old lady named Lao Yu, she was then led into a library, where she saw Kuan, who was currently listening attentively to a middle-aged man.

She knew no one in the room except her friend.

"How have you been, Lady Yue?"

The man acknowledged her presence.

She was still disoriented and could only nod as she forced down her slight discomfort of being in a room full of strangers.

Her apprehension was written all over her face.

The elder then asked her to take her seat.

"Lady Yue, welcome to Red Shields. Please call me David. Let's get over the introductions."

The Red Shields was founded few decades ago by several dignitaries who decided to fight back against the Chiropteran colony.

These people were high-ranking officials who were turned against their will.

Despite the odds and their limited knowledge as to how the colony operated, the Red Shields remained dedicated to its purpose.

To eradicate the bloodsuckers.

The war escalated when the Chiropteran colony acquired P&G, one of the leading food manufacturing company in the country.

It was then discovered why the colony built more laboratories under the safe umbrella of the research and development arm of the company.

The goal of the colony was to have the Chiropteran blood infused to the products, to make people more susceptible to turning.

Many scientists already sacrificed their lives in their dire efforts to expose the colony, but up to the present times, the cycle was still on-going.

"Who knows if this project will soon be accomplished by your sister?"

"Can you imagine human babies consuming milk products contaminated with Chiropteran blood?"

"Families consuming almost all of P&G's products?"

"Can you imagine what will happen then if the infusion will succeed?"

So far, the threat to mankind was still manageable.

The Chiropteran blood loses its potency once it's taken out from the host. This weakness was the main contributing factor as to why up to this time, the P&G products remained safe to consumers.

Yue couldn't help but ask as to how the Red Shields knew what is going on inside the colony.

"You wouldn't believe it, but our intel was deeply rooted inside the organization."

Yue turned to look at Kuan.

Kuan was a Red Shield agent who successfully infiltrated their clan.
