CHAPTER 2: MISS WORKAHOLIC
*ALARM*
I groan as I reached for my alarm clock on my bedside table to turn it off. I sat up and stretch my arms and released a yawn.
My usual morning routine is: get up, take a bath, put light make up on, dress up, have breakfast and off to work. I usually have breakfast with mom only, since dad always leaves the house early to manage his shop and my sister Haidee always have her morning jogging.
After dressing up, I went down stairs to have breakfast. I can smell the bacon mom's cooking. So I went straight to the dining area just in time mom came out of the kitchen with the plate of bacons.
"Smells so delicious, I'm hungry!" I said to her with a smile, "Good morning mom!" And I gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Good morning sweetheart," she said and laid down the plate of bacons in front of me. "You should go ahead and eat, I'll just make us some coffee," she smiled sweetly and disappeared to the kitchen. After a few minutes she re-appeared with two cups of coffee and sat beside me.
"Mom, I'll be coming home late tonight. I need to take an OT and I'll be meeting with Roseli tonight."
"You've been coming home late a lot lately. If it isn't an OT, you're having coffee with the girls. Honey, you should rest too you know."
"I just want to finish the lay out I am working on that's due tomorrow. So I can start on working on the next one, since I can't go to work this Saturday."
Mom froze upon hearing my last sentence , "That's new. You're not going to do an OT this Saturday. Mind telling me why?" she asked very curious since she knows I always go to work every Saturday despite it's my rest day.
"Adela invited me and Roseli to tag along with her to this exhibit this Saturday," I said and I sensed my mom being relieved.
"That's nice to hear sweetie, it's about time that you go out there and do something that is NOT work. You've been pushing yourself too much, spending all your time doing your job. You've been like a robot since you and Vinni..." she stopped talking realizing what she's about to say. Mom knows me well even if I tell her I moved on, she knows it still hurts inside.

It was 15 minutes before 9 when I arrived at the office.
"Good morning Hailey!" Sabrina, a colleague, greeted me as soon as I reach my work space.
"Good morning," I greeted her back. I settled my bag on my desk along with my laptop turned my laptop on.
"Hailey, the site lay out that's due tomorrow afternoon, make sure to submit it on time," someone said from behind, when I turned around it was my Boss.
"Yes Ma'am, I'll take an OT today so I'll get it done on time by tomorrow," I told her
"Good!" she gave a quick smile and left.
Once our Boss was out of sight, my colleague Alexis leaned on me, "Seriously? An OT? Jeez Hailey, don't you ever take a rest?"
I rolled my eyes on her and focus on my laptop and started working.

After a coupleof hours of OT, I've decided to call it a day. I could stay for another hour for OT but Roseli and I agreed on meeting at a mall along EDSA
