"Where is Robin?" Wally West asked, zipping into the lounge to see his team watching some random comedy, the little bird nowhere in sight.
"He was on a mission with Batman, don't know when he will be back." Artemis Crock grunted. "Now shush, you are ruining the movie."
Wally shrugged, sitting on the ground just as the zeta tubes announced Batman and Black Canary. Wally groaned. "I just sat down!"
Conner smacked the back of Wally's head on the way by. "Come on, its probably important."
Wally rubbed the back of his head as he followed the rest of the team to where the two Justice Leaguers were standing. They looked up upon the team's arrival. Black Canary nudged Batman, who grunted and started typing on the holographic computer. It was a moment later that the five profiles popped up on the screen and Wally had to bite back a gasp.
"Sir, why are we looking at the Waynes?" He asked, eyes never leaving Robin's civilian picture.
Batman sighed. "Bruce Wayne asked me to look into something for him and what I found was disturbing." He selected Bruce's profile, loading it up. "He was worried that the mob was after his family, so he asked me to gather some protection for them. I agreed, and you are that protection."
The team groaned, quickly shutting up when Batman glared at them.
"Will Robin be joining us?" M'gann asked, looking around for the youngest teammate.
"No, he was...incapacitated during our mission. He is recovering in the cave." Batman selected the next profile, none other than Dick Grayson, the boy wonder himself.
Not that any of them other than Wally knew that.
"This is Bruce's oldest son, Dick Grayson. Bruce took him in after Dick witnessed his parents' death. He was officially adopted two weeks ago, right after Jason Todd, Bruce's second son." Batman pulled up Jason's profile. "Jason was brought to Bruce by a mutual acquaintance and was adopted three weeks ago, though he had been living at the manor for longer." He selected the next profile. "This is Tim Drake, Bruce's third son. He has yet to be adopted but has been living at the manor for some time." Lastly, he clicked on the youngest's profile. "And this, is Damian. Bruce Wayne's only blood son."
"Sir, how long will we be at the Manor?" Kaldur asked, looking over the profiles.
As long as it takes me to find a cure.
Batman narrowed his eyes at the team. "That is unclear as of now."
"Where is Bruce in all of this?" Conner asked, glaring at the profiles.
"He has business overseas to attend to and their butler, Alfred Pennyworth, is in England."
"An English butler? How much more cliché can they get." Artemis muttered under her breath. "When do we depart?"
"Tonight, I suggest you go pack."
The team nodded before wandering off, leaving Canary to look at Batman with sympathy. "We will find a cure, Bruce. Don't worry."
Batman nodded, turning to the zeta tubes. "If you'll excuse me, I have four boys to set in line."
"The team and I will be there in a few hours."
Batman grunted in reply before disappearing into the tubes. He arrived back at the Batcave, immediately changing into his civilian clothes before heading upstairs to find his four children.
They were easy to find, all of them huddled in the kitchen watching Alfred prepare his last meal for them. Bruce cleared his throat, causing all four of the young boys to turn around.
Dick was in his arms right away, followed by Tim. Jason waited off to the side, holding the toddler aged Damian's hand. Bruce stood up from the hug and went over to his other two sons, scooping them both up in a hug.
Once all the hugs were out of the way, Dick spoke up. "Do you have to go on your trip and leave us with strangers?"
Bruce furrowed his brow before remembering that Dick does not remember being on the team, seeing as he was only nine right now and would not join the team for years. "I'm sorry, sport, but I will be back as quickly as I can."
Tim hugged onto Bruce's leg. "Please hurry."
Bruce leaned down and kissed each of his sons on the head before turning to Alfred. "The team should be here after dinner. We will depart once they arrive."
"Of course, Master Bruce." Alfred finished up the cooking process. "Now, I suggest all of you go wait in the dining room."
"But Alfie, you didn't let me help." Jason whined, walking away with the rest of his family.
They sat down and ate, Dick and Tim talking animatedly the whole time. Bruce just smiled at his sons, nodding along eagerly.
The doorbell rang not too long after they finished eating, the four boys heading to the living room while Alfred answered the door.
"Master Bruce, the team is here."
Bruce sighed, standing up to go greet the team. He arrived at the door, ushering them inside before shaking all of their hands. "I'm Bruce Wayne, my sons are in the lower living room."
Lower living room...how rich are these people?
Artemis rolled her eyes but followed along, stopping in the doorway to see four boys, all under the age of ten, watching Frozen.
The boys all turned in unison when they heard the door open, eyes lighting up when they saw Bruce before quickly falling. The oldest one raced over to Bruce, hugging him tightly. "Do you have to go?"
"I'm sorry, Dick, but I do." Dick looked up with teary eyes. Bruce sighed, kneeling down next to the small child. "Don't worry, you'll be in good hands."
Dick looked past Bruce and saw the team, eyes going wide. He scampered back to his brothers, all of whom were watching the team curiously.
Wally was staring at Dick with wide eyes, unsure if he was believing what he was seeing because the last time he saw Dick Grayson, he was fourteen.
Just what did Batman and Robin get into?
