Hoseok's POV

At least I didn't break my promise.

I ponder over those words ever since. They continually play on my mind. The only promise I know I made was to Jimin, an old friend – more like a brother, the one I remained with throughout one of the darkest periods of my life – the mental institute. He stayed with me but he was suffering problems of his own. He grew closer to depression, but sadly I have not heard from him since I left that place.

The memory I entered was dark, the atmosphere was murky. The familiar voice made it seem like an ominous event is about to occur or already has — but how can I trust him? I mean his words made me feel so worthless. My life was also a mess and my mind was unstable. But how did he know about that?

"Hoseok, is everything alright?" Mira questions with an inquisitive countenance.

I send her an assuring smile and nod. "Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"

Her eyebrows furrow. "You seemed to have zoned out. It looks like something's bothering you."

"I can assure you, Mira. I am perfectly fine." I reply, not wanting to worry her at all. I've come here for Mira — to consider her feelings and to protect her. My past should be the least of our worries. After all, I am meant to be her guardian angel.

She places her books down on her bed and takes a seat beside me. "You know you can tell me, right? I'm always here to listen to you and have your back just like you always have mine."

Her words instantly send a relaxing sensation within me. I smile contentedly and engulf her into a hug. "Thank you so much. That just made me feel better. I'm so lucky to have met you."

Mira smiles and returns the hug. "No need to thank me."

I look around. Why is it so dark in here?

Where's Mira? I wonder in fear.

Suddenly, an evil laughter resonates the room causing goosebumps to rise on my skin.

I decide to use my ball of light and make it float around the room. Until it lands on a familiar face and I flinch at the sudden appearance.
