Monday at Glee club practice:

"OK guys, I hope you enjoyed the weekend, but now we really need to crack down and get to business. We have one week until Nationals, and we need to finalize our set list." Will stated. "First we need to come up with a theme. Any ideas?" "How about victory?" Scott suggested. "Victory could mean a lot of things to people. For some people, it's just a word. I honestly believe it's more than that. A wise great football coach once said: "I firmly believe that any athlete's finest hour, their greatest achievement to what they hold dear, is that moment when they have worked their heart out for a good cause, and lie exhausted on the field of battle victorious." Scott explained. "I've always wanted a moment like that in my life, and I'm sure every one of us in this choir room has either experienced that or has wanted a moment like that at one time or another too." "That has a nice ring to it. I'm all for that theme." Spencer said. "Me too." Jake jumped in. "Me three." Ryder said. "Me four." Kitty said. "I'm in too." Marley chimed in as well. "All in favor?" Will asked. "Yeah!" The Glee club cheered. "Alright, our theme has been chosen. Now we have to figure out our set list of songs. First up is the girls' group number." "I was thinking something fun." Marley said. "Like what?" Bree asked. "How about "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship?" Marley replied. "I like that song. It's fun, easy to sing, and uplifting at the same time." Madison stated. "I think we can make it work." Jane said. "That's good, but we need something a bit more creative." Bree said. "What did you have in mind?" Kitty asked. "I was thinking a song called "I Will Win." It was a song from the TV show Power Rangers. It was a very popular song back in the 90's." Bree explained. "What do you girls think?" Sam asked. "We can do it!" They all said together. "Alright." Will said. "Now for the guys group number." "I was thinking something emotionally uplifting." Roderick said. "Like what?" Myron asked. "How about a song from Rocky IV? It's called "Hearts on Fire"? Roderick asked. "I like the sound of that." Joe said. "Me too." Jake chimed in. "I think we can make it work." Scott said. "You guys up for it?" Will asked. "Yeah!" all the guys replied.

"Alright, now it's time to talk solos." Will stated. "Bree, which song would you like to sing?" "There's only one I can think of: "One Moment In Time" by Whitney Houston." "That's definitely a song that was made for someone like you." Scott said.  "You have the perfect voice for that Bree. You'll do great." Jake said. "You up for that Bree?" Sam asked. "Oh yeah." Bree replied. The Glee club applauded in approval. "So who gets the guys solo then?" Scott asked. Will smiled, then the entire Glee club looked at Scott. "Me again?" Scott asked, a bit surprised. "You got us this far; there's no one we would trust more with the guys' solo than you Scott." Will said trying to reassure him. "Alright, what the hell." "Yeah!" The Glee club cheered. "What song did you have in mind Mr. Schue?" Scott asked. "I'll let you pick." Will replied. "I was thinking "Never Surrender" by Corey Hart." Scott said. "You got it." Will replied. "Yeah!" The Glee club applauded. "OK, now we need a number for our group ensemble." Will explained. "I had an idea." Scott spoke up: "How about a song by The Outfield? It's called "Winning It All". "I've heard that song before. It's hip." Unique said. "It's inspiring." Spencer said. "It's nice." Sugar said. "It's perfect." Kitty said. "I like it." Marley said. "All in favor?" Will asked. "Yeah!" The Glee club cheered in approval. "Alright, we're set for Nationals. "Yeah!" The Glee club cheered and applauded.

"OK, now for this week's theme: Emotion. "Some singers sing with emotion and feeling. This week we're going to pick an artist that defines that to a-t: Frank Sinatra. "Old Blue Eyes was one of the all-time greats." Scott quipped. "Indeed." Will replied. "Your assignment this week is to pick a song from Frank Sinatra, and put some emotion into your singing."

"Can I go today Mr. Schue?" Jake asked. "Go ahead." Will said. Jake stood up. "I'd like to dedicate this song for my fiancee Bree." He said. Bree smiled back at him. Jake then began to sing:

I've got you under my skin
I have got you, deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me
I've got you under my skin

I'd tried so, not to give in
I said to myself this affair it never will go so well
But why should I try to resist when baby I know so well
I've got you under my skin

I'd sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of having you near
In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night
And repeats, repeats in my ear

Don't you know, little fool
You never can win
Use your mentality
Wake up to reality
But each time I do just the thought of you
Makes me stop before I begin
'Cause I've got you under my skin

I would sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of having you near
In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night
And repeats how it yells in my ear

Don't you know, little fool
You never can win
Why not use your mentality
Step up, wake up to reality
But each time I do just the thought of you
Makes me stop just before I begin
Because I've got you under my skin
Yes, I've got you under my skin

The Glee club applauded Jake's performance. "Nice singing Jake." Will said. "Can I go Mr. Schue?" Bree asked. "Why not? Take it away." Will replied nicely. Bree stood up and said, "This song is for my fiance." Jake chuckled back at her. Bree then began to sing:

Strangers in the night
Exchanging glances
Wondering in the night
What were the chances
We'd be sharing love
Before the night was through?
Something in your eyes
Was so inviting
Something in your smile
Was so exciting
Something in my heart told me I must have you

Strangers in the night, two lonely people
We were strangers in the night
Up to the moment when we said our first hello
Little did we know
Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away
And ever since that night
We've been together
Lovers at first sight
In love forever
It turned out so right
For strangers in the night

Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away
Ever since that night
We've been together
Lovers at first sight
In love forever
It turned out so right
For strangers in the night!!!

The Glee club applauded Bree's performance. Jake & Bree then embraced each other. "Nice job Bree." Will said. "Alright, we have time for one more performance today. Who wants to go next?" "I'll go Mr. Schue." Jane said. "Take it away Jane." Will instructed. Jane stood up and began to sing:

The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea
It lingered there to touch your hair and walk with me
All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts and the summer wind

Like painted kites, those days and nights, they went flyin' by
The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man one day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind

The autumn wind and the winter winds, they have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind

The summer wind
Warm summer wind
Mmm, the summer wind

"Yeah!" The Glee club applauded Jane's performance. "Nice job Jane." Will said. With that, the bell rang. "OK, that's enough for today, more with Frank Sinatra week tomorrow."

So the Glee club has finalized their theme & set list for Nationals. This week they will be singing Frank Sinatra songs.
