The newly engaged couple continued to embark on their long, mysterious journey to an unknown location. They found themselves in the state of Arizona. The gorgeous sun discharged and bestowed it's heat onto the dry land of this beautiful state. The land was parched, cracked as if a recent earthquake had hit the land. The wheels on Chase's car lifted the crust of the land and dismantled the pieces into dust which scattered behind them.

Noen sat comfortably in the passenger's seat, it felt as if the seat had a permanent imprint just for him due to the everlasting hours he would sit in it. He grabbed the water bottle in between him and his lover and sipped ever last droplet he could get. Their water supply was still huge, but they needed to preserve as much as they could. He intertwined his hands and began to fiddle with the beautiful diamond ring Chase gifted to him while they were in Oklahoma.

**Noen**

This ring has got to be the most beautiful thing I've ever been gifted with, other then Chase, he's more valuable and more important then anyone in my life right now, because he's all that I have. But I'm not mad about it, he's the best friend, boyfriend, and soon-to-be-husband, that I could've asked for ever.

We are so far away from Georgia that it feels surreal to me. I always told my parents we needed to go on a road trip around the US, but here I am, doing it without them, trying my hardest to make them proud. I feel their presence every now and then. I know they are looking down at me, protecting me, and hopefully they are proud of me.

I don't really mention my family to Chase, because I know what he's been through, I only really know about his dad and his grandma. I wonder what his mother is like though. I filled my anxiety and decided to ask.

'Hey babe'
'Yes baby' he responds.
'I know you don't really like talking about family.. but, your mom. What was she like?'

He stated at me with confusion.
'Shit no. Sorry, if you don't wanna talk about it, don't, just ignore m-'
He placed his hand on my thigh and said 'it's ok babe... We can talk about her'
'Oh ok' I state. 'What was she like? Like personality wise?'

**Chase**

I try to find a way to explain her in a sentence or few so I just state 'she was just like me. Funny. Sporty. And so kind to everyone around her, she was an angel'
'Oh. What kind of sport did she like?' Noen curiously asked me.
'Volleyball.'
'Ohhh so that's where you get the talent from?' Noen cutely suggested.
'I guess you could say that' I chuckled under my breath.
'Where is she now' he asked the dreaded question. 'She's... um... errr......' I basically say the answer with my eyes that are starting to well up. 'It's ok babe, if you don't want to talk about it' Noen peacefully whispered into my ear.

The truth is... my mom was dead. I only found out about it a week or two before my father came to Georgia and I didn't want to trouble Noen with it, seen as though he lost both of his parents. My father did this. Killed his own mother and the love of his life. All because he lost control of them. I wish there was some way to just go into his past, find the root of this anger, and just rip it out of him like ripping off a bandaid. I just don't understand how somebody can be so vile to their loved ones. I would never do that to Noen, and he'd never do that to me.

I think..

but anyways, this life we are going to start will be like pressing the restart button, forgetting our past, our crimes.

Everything.

I saw chase in his trail of thoughts so I opened the glovebox and picked up a Blank white CD with 'The Best CD Mix ever!' In smudged handwriting, easily distinguishable. It was Jaden's.

About a year ago, our whole group did a challenge where we had to make our own song with our own vocals, backing track, and other musical stuff. And we put it on a CD to play at prom, but of course that isn't happening anymore.

I pushed the CD in and the first one that came on was Jaden. Not only could he dance and cheer, he could also sing. He came up with this beat that was so sick and his vocals just make it ten times better. The lyrics just resonated with me for some reason.

🎶My Heart is comatose,
Comatose,
I, don't
(Epic drum rift)
Give enough to miss you, after all the shit we've been through my heart's comatose, comatose 🎶

I swayed my head back and forth to the drum beat.

A few minutes pass and then Avani's and Payton's song came on. (A/N; Crappy song writing coming in🥴)
**🔴=Payton**
**🔵=Avani**

🎶 🔵I, Can't, live without you
🔴 live without you
🔵 I, care, too much about you
🔴 Much about you
🔵 see boy, love's a crazy thing, and all I'll ever need, is you

and your love🎶

I peak my eyes over to Chase as these lyrics settled into my mind. Now I feel bad for all the times I made fun of Avani for being so obsessed with Payton. Love makes you go crazy for your partner, makes you care for them more then you care for yourself.

I grabbed Chase's hand for warmth. His smile filled the car with happiness.

As Anthony's cover of YMCA ended we both hysterically laughed. Anthony was never musically talented.. so we let him off.

My song came on. And my cheeks instantly went a bright shade of red.

(A/N, More dumb writing, don't kill me)

🎶Tomorrow.
A day we take for granted.
A melody that seems endless, until it's complete.

Tomorrow.
The light of faith and hope.
Even when life is stressful,
Don't grab that rope.

There's a person out there,
That will fondle with your hair.
Hug you when you're bare,
And will always seem to care🎶

God last year Noen was depressed. I look over to Chase and seem him smiling. 'Nice song' Chase said.
'Thank you babe' I replied.

We continue you to ride this crazy journey of mystery as the final lines of my song plays..

🎶Tomorrow.
Just think of tomorrow🎶

1093 words- sorry this is repetitive but I wanted to put comatose into this because I genuinely love the snippet Jaden posted, so I just thought I'd put some original music that I made a while ago, it's bad I know, sorry.

Anyways. See yall later ❤️
