"Sometimes you just gotta stay silent cause no words can explain the shit that's going on in your mind and heart." -unknown
JAYDEN DOYLE
I stared blankly at the ivory-colored building in front of me.
I hated it.
I hated the way it looked more like a prison than an institution for learning. I hated how everyone looked terrified to be here but put on a mask and pretended like they didn't give a damn that they could potentially die. My hands clenched around the crummy duffel bag that sat on my lap. My thoughts wavered slightly back to the incident that happened 4 years ago that left our family so fucked up." Jayden...." 'my mother' spoke breaking the silence that I had grown accustomed to, "we talked about this and we came to the agreement that this was the best course of action to ensure your future would still be bright."
'We' don't make me laugh, she had shoved her opinion right down my throat leaving me with no room to argue. Tearing my gaze from the window I stared at the woman who claimed that I was not her son but in fact a murderer.
The tone of her voice was void of sympathy. While her eyes told another story. I could the slight gleam in her eyes at the thought of finally being ridden of me. I guess the saying really was true, the eyes were the window to your soul.
I sighed. There was no point in challenging her. I would only make a show of myself on the first day of school. Taking hold of the bag still perched on my lap I opened the passenger door before gently closing it. No matter how angry or scared I was, I would never give the satisfaction of knowing she was getting to me. I made my way to the back of our second-hand Volkswagen. I moved my hand around the door of the car before I found the release button of the boot. Quickly grabbing the suitcase, I placed it on the ground with more struggle than I would like to admit. I slammed the lid back down. Securing the duffle bag tightly under my left arm, I grabbed the handle of my suitcase and walked off towards the school building. I could already hear the car peeling away from the school parking lot.
I could hear her retarded self before I even saw her yet. My best friend Olivia. She was most likely squealing about her new boy crush to poor Caleb. I quickened my pace deciding to leave my suitcase so I could scare her from behind.
"Boo!" I shouted loudly down her ear resulting in a her screaming while turning around so fast she whipped my face with her hair. Her acting scared was almost worth the stinging sensation I was experiencing. Almost.
"calm down before you get a heart attack" I teased playfully while she glared at me."Mind helping me with my bags before I pass out," I said.
Caleb was the first to move from his position and help me, opting for the suitcase that was still behind me. Shit, I forgot about that. Curse my forgetful self.
"Yeah... no" She deadpanned "I need to look good for Ryan," she said while batting her demonic eyelashes innocently. (I was the only one that called them demonic because of how scary I thought she looked with them on.)
Rolling my eyes at her, we made our way to into the building. Our conservation was light-hearted as we talked about what we got up to during the holidays and about Olivia's new boy crush, which she was more than happy to tell us about.
We turned a corner, finally reaching the hall that was filled with dorms. Damn stairs, who the fuck decided it would be a great idea to invent something as dangerous as stairs.
As we made our past the dorms I couldn't help but notice that some dorms were quiet while others were loud indicating that more than one person was in the room. It was only the first day of school and already people were getting their dirty-dirty freak-freak on. I shuddered at the thought. We stopped at a particular door that held the numbers we were looking for. Finally.
