Chapter 5

New Character

Damon 

"Lindsey!" "Lindsey!" "LINDSEY!" "What?!" I whispered back to Lucy who looked wide awake and scared. "There is something moving in the woods." She said. "How do you know?" I asked her, "because I heard footsteps in the forest." I got back from her. "Ok. Just give me a minute and I will go see what it is." As I pulled Stephan's arm from around he moved and woke up, "What are you doing?", "Your sister heard something in the woods I am going to go check it out." "Ok." 

As I was walking into the forest I was thinking What was Lucy doing up so early anyways? as I got closer to where Lucy had pointed I heard leaves and twigs cracking under what sounded like boots. I had heard it from around this big tree trunk as I got closer to look around the tree trunk something grabbed me and turned me. When I was finally around and against the tree I saw a bay maybe around 16 to 19 he held something smooth and pointing against my neck like a knife or something, he was breathing hard like he was running from something.

"Who are you?" I asked him. "I am Damon." he had said back, "what are you doing in the woods?" "running from the slow walkers. What about you?" "Same but we are actually not running from them we are going to the castle to get the lost prince to my kingdom." "Lost prince? Ohhh you mean the one that the Slow Walker King took right?" "Yeah, that one." " So what's your name." "Lindsey." "So Lindsey where did you some from." "Oh yeah I have a camp." "really you do?" "Yes, really I do." "Ok, lead the way then." So just like we were off to the campsite.

Once we got there I had seen that they were all up now. Once me and Damon had gotten out of the woods and got closer I saw that Stephen and Samuel had grabbed their weapons and I also saw that Lucy was hiding Rosie behind her and she was behind the boys. They started walking closer raising their knives and then I saw Damon raised his and push me behind him Stephen saw where his hand was and got mad and started running towards us. "Stop!" I yelled getting in front of Damon and that stopped Stephan from coming any closer. "Get out of the way Lindsey!" Stephan said through gritted teeth. "NO" I said, "you are not going to hurt him. Ok? He was running from the slow walkers that were chasing him. I went into the woods to find that sound and that sound was because of him. Now that he is with us we are going to protect him like he is one of us OK?" I said and asked Stephan, "OK." he said back.

After me and Stephan where done talking Damon introduced himself to everyone. Later that day we had packed up and we're on our feet again moving closer to the Slow Walker Kingdom. As wee where walking we saw another village and this time it was not on fire or in ashes like the last one we saw. As we got closer we saw that there were people here and we realised that there was a big black castle that everyone knew very well that was located above the village upon a cliff and had a long freaky staircase to the doors of the castle.

As we walked through the village people were grabbing onto us and begging for food and asking for money to buy food with. As we got closer to the staircase we saw that there was a gatekeeper who was a troll. "HALT!" the troll said to us, "We need to get through" I said to the troll. "No one is to get through my gates to the castle without answering a riddle first and if you get it right then you can pass but if you get it wrong you can go back the way you came or die it's your choice, but choose wisely or you may just end up dead." the troll said, "Ok, give me the riddle then." I said back to him with some attitude. "Ok.", "What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?" the troll said. "What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years?..." I asked myself passing back and forth, "you have 1 minute to figure it out." the troll said, as i was passing back and forth my mind went into memory mode. My family used to do riddles why did this one seem so familiar, Daddy! Daddy! Tell me a riddle please." My 5 year old self said "Ok Lindsay Ok I will." "Ok, I got one here it is this one should be easy for you if not then I will tell you if you say I give up or I don't know ok." "OK, Daddy!" " Ok, What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment, but never in a thousand years." "Ummm... I thought for a minute and then I gave up. "Ok daddy I give up." " Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure Daddy you gave me a tricky one this time." "I know I did didn't I. It's the letter M." 'Oh... cause there's one M in minute and there's two in moment."

As I came back to reality the troll was counting down from 20 and as soon as he got to 10 I yelled, "is it the letter M?" I asked the troll. "Why yes, yes it is. You may pass." As I went to walk I looked back I saw the others following me.
