I awoke to puppy breath. I laughed tiredly. "Okay let's go outside. I bet you have to go potty," I whispered to the puppy. I could feel that Justin snuck into my bed in the middle of the night, but he wasn't awake.
I left my phone and quickly took Jacks outside to go do his business. I ran back inside not wanting to scare Justin. Who knows what would happen if he woke up alone. I went back to my room to check on the sleeping prince. He was still sleeping. I sighed. I probably have another hour or so.
I grabbed a change of clothes and Jacks followed me. "Go sleep with Justin," I said in a baby voice. It was like the puppy understood me because he went back to the bedroom. I quickly got in the shower and did what I needed to do.
I got dressed and walked out to the kitchen. Jacks followed me and I got him food. I checked the time. Justin should have been up by now. I heard a sound and turned around. "There's my bubby." He smiled, but something was off. There was a blanket around him and he looked pale.
"Are you hungry bug?" He shook his head and coughed slightly. He groaned and laid on the arm of the couch. I pushed the bangs out of his face to feel for a fever. Definitely a fever. "Is your tummy upset buggy?" He shook his head. I got up to get the thermometer while Justin turned on SpongeBob. I walked back with medication and the thermometer. "Just keep watching SpongeBob bug okay?" I said knowing he wouldn't like a thermometer to put in his ear.
He seemed distracted so I just tried to get it over and done with. I slowly slipped it in his ear cautious to not hurt him. He whimpered and whined wriggling to get the object away. "I know baby. Just a bit longer." He whimpered and tried to reach for it. "No buggy." He whined more and withering to get away. It beeped and Justin started crying hard. I pet his back and looked at the thermometer. "That's pretty high bubby. You need some meds." I tried to feed him the liquid medicine but he refused getting fussier. "It'll make you feel better bub," I tried to reason with him. He shook his head.
I got up and looked in the fridge. I poured a cup of juice into a cup. I walked back. "I got your juice, but you need to take the medicine." He cringed and we went between drinking juice and finishing the medicine.
He coughed again and sniffled. Jacks went up to him and cuddled near Justin's feet. "Do you want anything?" He shook his head sniffling. "You should probably have some soup. You need to eat to get better boo." He sniffled and sighed. "No," He croaked out. "Later?" I asked. "Later," he echoed back. I sat on the arm of the couch as there was no room.
About an hour later I decided to make myself breakfast and Justin's soup. "Bug do you want tea or juice?" I asked walking back to the living area. "Juice please," Justin mumbled petting Jacks. I came back out and gave Justin more juice and his soup. He struggled to eat it because of a sore throat.
He finished it slowly and groaned. I put the dish in the dishwasher. I walked back out and Justin was wriggling on the couch. "What's the matter bubba?" He sniffled being congested. "Awe bug I'll get you more meds okay?" I walked away. I came back with the medicine. He was kicking the couch and Jacks was staring worriedly. "Here bubby. Take your medicine." He groaned and whined. "I know. You can have a sprite after okay," I tried to persuade him. He coughed and started sweating. Great his fever went up.
I got a can of sprite and walked back. "Please take your medicine, Justin." He complied reluctantly. He finished his medicine and I gave him the Sprite to wash out the taste. He coughed harshly and groaned crying. "I know baby," I pet his bangs out of his face.
I got up and got a damp washcloth. I walked back and set it on his forehead calming him down slightly. I smiled and Justin slowly fell back asleep.
