I duck and waste no time in turning towards Ben’s direction and sprinting after him away from the now offended Chasers, my chocolate coloured hair flowing freely behind me and the skirt of my black skater dress whipping back and forth as I run in my battered but trusty high top blue converses.
With the adrenaline pumping through me, Ben and I head towards the forest and through the trees, leaping and bounding over roots and mounds towards where Jenna and Adam are camped.
As I start to see the glow of the fire from our camp, I yell “RUN” and as I past the site, I see Jenna and Adam bolt from the ground with our back packs in hand.
Ben appears by my side just as Jenna and Adam catch up and hand us our one strapped bags that cross over one of our shoulders and across out chests. We distance ourselves from each other and continue sprinting through the forestry, hearing the Chasers close behind us.
The rule is to run, and keep running. But the one way we lose them is to either split up and take on the ones that follow us or to hide and stay hidden. We already establish where we’ll go next when we arrive at a new location so we will always find a way back to each other.
I turn my thoughts back to the lingering threat of the Chasers that are now closing in on me, so I decide to peel off from the general direction of which we are going are turn towards the left and start zigzagging vigorously through the forest.
I see a cliff face appear in front of me and am forced to stop in a clearing at the base of the rock. Breathing heavily I automatically turn to face the Chasers and see that the majority of them have followed me.
Shit.
“Come on boys, you really need to get out there. I’m not that fantastic you know.” I taunt at the bastards.
None of the Chasers move from the edge of the clearing as they surround me. While watching them I see one of the bigger Chasers move from their position, springing from his spot towards me. As he gets closer I notice his eyes flash gold, taken aback, I wait too long to react to my attacker until I see his fist swinging towards me.
I duck in time though and kick his legs out from under him so he tumbles down. I stand up and grab a fistful of his hair and slam his head down onto the ground knocking him out cold.
“Two out of five” I tell the unconscious gorilla lying at my feet. “Skimpy show me what you got” I turn and tell a scrawny looking Chaser. Of course I was greeted with the ever so lovely chuckle coming from behind the line of Chasers from their charming leader, Oscar.
I turn to face the centre of the line of Chasers to see Oscy boy looking right at me with a smug look on his face. But his eyes said it all. The bastard thought he caught me, and damn was he happy about it.
“Knew it was only a matter of time since you caught up Oscy boy, how’s bambi? I assume that’s the reason it took you so long to get here, or are you really just as pathetic as I know you are?” I insult him with. Oscar’s smug look drops, obviously having enough of me tonight because he wastes no time in commanding his lackey’s to attacks me.
I’ve trained and trained to take on the Chasers and I’m skilled enough to take them down and kill them. But I only resort to killing when I know I won’t be able to knock them out and this was definitely one of those situations.
I don’t know when but there are definitely more chasers then there was when we first encountered them back at the club. The rest must of been hiding in the alleys when we started running and caught up because as of now, there are about 12 pissed off Chasers launching right at me.
I pull out two of the numerous daggers and knifes I have strapped on my body and start swinging at the first few Chasers who are already at me. I let my instincts take over as I kick, dodge and swipe at the attackers. When there’s a break in the waves of Chasers coming at me, I turn and sprint along the edge of the rock wall where a tree has grown close beside it. Leaping into the air, I place one foot on the rock, push off and place another on the tree and push off again. As I’m in the air, I twist and throw one of the daggers at Chasers that’s followed me and land lightly on my feet.
Wasting no time, I turn in the direction of where the rest of my family ran to and start bounding through the trees and away from the remaining Chasers...

I keep running for about an hour and a half, only stopping to sit and catch my breath for 3 minutes. Along with my combat training, I worked on my stamina and speed so I can run for very long distances for various amounts of time while still conserving energy.
Once I’ve downed half of my water, I look down at now my tattered dress that’s torn and ripped. I sigh and start jogging at a reasonable pace to where my next destination is. I start to see the slight glow of the morning sun and figured out that it’s been 3 hours since Ben and I were at the club.
Not paying attention to what was happening around me, I didn’t realise that there were now the presence of Chasers that were now surrounding either side of me. I hear a branch snap from behind me and spin around with my knife drawn but freeze as I see a massive gray wolf bounding towards me.
But wolfs don’t exist here...
I yelp as I move out of the way and slash my knife along the side of the furious wolf. The creature whimpers as the scent of slightly burnt flesh fills the air but while I dodged one wolf, another comes at me and I don’t move quick enough and earn a slash from their razor sharp claws right along my entire thigh.
Why is their fur burning when knife them?
I scream in pain from the extremely deep gash and crumple in agony as I start to see black at the edge of my vision. Another wolf pounces on top of me and I move my knife in front of me and plunge it into its chest. The massive creature goes limp and crashes down on one half of my body but I manage to push it off with my strength to the side of me and sit up in a crouch.
I stare down at the wolf beside me in absolute shock and blind terror as I realise I might not be getting out of here alive, my sense of humour gone. I look up through tears of terror and notice a man standing there.
Staring.
