"Ughhh I have nothing to wear!" I scream. It's Friday night, and I've been raiding my closet for the past hour trying to find something to wear to this guy Taylor's party. It's currently four and the party starts at six but Jack wants me to be there at five so I could help set up. After one last sweep through my closet I finally decide on a black dress with black flats to match. I pull my hair into a high pony tail and put on some foundation, eyeliner, and lipstick. Content with how I look I start making my way to the front door only to be stopped by Nash.
"Where are you going." He said with a snide.
"Out." I replied.
"Where are you going." He repeats.
"It's none of your business."
"Yes it is."
"No it's not." I scream
"Whatever bitch. Oh and by the way you look like shit."
"You look like a dick." I say walking out the door. I honestly can't believe I just did that. I've never stood up to Nash before. I get on my bike and look at the directions Gilinsky gave me. After ten minuets of biking I finally arrive at Taylor's house. I knock on the front door, and a girl short girl with long dark brown hair answers.
"Ohhhh um I-I-I must have the wrong house. Do y-y-you know where Taylor caniff lives." I stutter
"Nah your in the right place. I'm his sister Chandni." I guess I gave her a weird look when she said her name because she then said "I'm adopted." I nod and she lets me into the house.
I'm amazed at how big it is. The ceiling is like 40 feet and high and there's a grand stair case leading upstairs.
"Impressive, right." Chandni says. I nod. "Yeah both our parents are lawyers so money's not that big of an issue. She leads me into the kitchen where I see Jack, Cameron, Matthew, and a guy who I am assume is Taylor.
"Hey Miranda glad you came." Cameron says. "This is our friend Taylor, and I see you already met his sister Chandni." Taylor waves at me and I wave back. An awkward silent falls over everyone.
"So." Matt says breaking the ice. "We should probably start setting up for the party right Taylor."
Taylor nods "Yeah Mahogany will be here in a couple minuets to set up all her DJ equipment so all we really need to do is hang some lights, get some drinks, and get this party started." Taylor says clapping his hand together.
"Alright Miranda and I will hang up some lights upstairs." Matt says
"Alright. There should be a bin already up there." Taylor replies.
As we head up stairs I can't help but wonder why Matt wanted to hang up lights with me. I mean we don't really know each other. We literally just met today.
We find the box at the top of the staircase. There's probably a million lights in there, it's insane. We untangle them all and start putting them up wherever there's space. After we've hung a bunch Matt turns to me and says "So I uh saw you talking to Claire today, you two are friends right."
"Yeah she was the first person to talk to me besides Jack and Cam." I respond.
"Cool cool so um I have a question for you."
"Shoot"
"So I've kind of liked Claire for a while now and I was wondering if she would possibly like to go on a date with me I mean if she wouldn't that's cool but you know if she does..."
"Matt" I cut him off before he can continue rambling on any longer. "I think Claire would love to go on a date with you."
"You really think so." I can't help but smile at how happy he looks."
"Yes. I really do."
"Sweet thanks Miranda. Your the best." Matt says picking me up and giving me a hug.
"Can't breathe." I mutter.
"Oh sorry it's just I've liked her since the 3rd grade and the thought that she might like me back just makes me feel ugh I don't even know how to describe it." We finish hanging up the lights just talking about random things. It was fun Matt was really sweet. He was going to make Claire very happy.
Matt and I head down stairs two minuets before the party starts, and there is already a few people arriving. I excuse myself to the bathroom. Once I finish my business I step out, and the party is in full swing.
"Damn." I mutter. "I was only in there for like five minuets." I start to walk around the house carefully avoiding the people that are grinding on each other. I see my friends from school and they wave me over.
"Hey." They all chorus.
"Sup." I say back.
"Awesome party." Ashleigh yells over the music.
"Yeah." I yell back.
"We are going to go over to the snack table, wanna come?" Claire shouts.
"No I'm gonna go find Jack." I scream back. They nod and walk on over to the food table. I watch them walk away and notice Payton is missing. I wonder where she is.
I've never been much of a party person, but I definately don't belong here. People are making out every which way, and my ass has been slapped more than once.
I wonder around looking for Jack, and when I don't see him I head up stairs to try and find some where quiet to sit. I open a door, and see to people tangled in each others arms. "Oh I'm sorry." I say awkwardly.
"Oh hey Miranda." I hear Payton say, and then see Taylor's head pop up beside her.
Before I can respond the door is slammed shut.
"Your welcome." Chandni says.
"Do they do that every time?"
"Pretty much." She replies before heading back downstairs.
I try a few more doors before a finally find a room where no one is frick-fracking. I settle down on the bed. Happy to be away from the mass chaos. I'm about to pull out my phone so I can check vine when I'm startled by someone saying "who are you, and why are you the only one who can see me." I turn around and see Jack Johnson starring out me with a confused look.
