Chapter 10

"What was that" jack repeats through clenched teeth.

"Oh that's just my step brother nash joking around." I say with a fake smile that's not to convincing.

"It didn't look like much of a joke."

"Well it was." I reply starting to get annoyed

"You shouldn't let him..."

"Drop it jack." I say though clenched teeth.

"I was just you can't let him push you around like that one day..."

"I said drop it!" I yell. He looks really hurt and I start to feel guilty for yelling at him. He's just trying to keep me safe and it's not his fault my step brothers a douche. "Listen Jack." I sigh. We shouldn't be worrying about him. I can handle my dick of a step brother. What we should be focusing on is a way to save you not worrying about my brother and i's relationship." Jack tries to argue but eventually drops the subject and let's us talk about him.

"Alright what do you think we should do?" He asks

"That is an excellent question that I was hoping you could answer." I reply

"Hey I'm the one in the coma I can't do shit."

"Well I don't know what to do! I say throwing myself onto my bed. I then get an idea. "What if you can do something!"

"What do you mean..." Jack says skeptically.

"What if you just need to want to wake up."

"Trust me I really want to wake up."

"Well not like you but your body. Maybe it needs a reason to wake up."

"What should we do than."

"I haven't gotten that far yet but I'm sure we'll think of something."

"I hope so." Jack says sadly.

"Hey don't be sad I promise I'm not going to let a doctor pull the plug on you."

"Thanks Miranda I owe you one."

"No problem Jack we're in this together." At that moment my phone rings breaking up our cute sappy moment. " Excuse me for a moment." I tell jack while I look at my phone and see that it's Payton.mI immediately answer it.

"Hey Payton!"

"Miranda we need you over at Claire's house pronto."

"Why..." I trail off before realizing she already hung up.

"Um jack would you mind if I left I believe there's a bit of a girl emergency." He laughs and tells me it's cool if I go. I go down stairs quietly because I hear Nash snoring and don't want to have to deal with the bullshit if I wake him up.

I grab my bike and pedal to where I remember Claire's house being. It's really far away and I'm practically dying by the time I get there. "I need to get a car," I think to myself.

I go up to the door and knock. Ashleigh answers the door and looks up and down at my flushed cheeks, sweaty armpits, and heavy breathing. Them she glances over at my bike saying "you need a car,"

"Thanks. I reply sarcastically. "Now why am I hear?" I ask. Ashleigh smiles and without replying ushers me into Claire's living room. I see all the other girls sitting in a circle with Claire in the middle with a huge smile on her face.

"What's going on?"

Claire runs over to me giving me a big a hug. Thank you thank you thank you!!!" She screams.

"Why what did I do? What's going on!?!??"

"Matt asked me to be his girlfriend!" Claire exclaims!

"Congratulations!!! I respond. But what does that have to do with me?"

"Matt said that you're the one who suggested he ask me out on a date! If you hadn't he told me he he never would have had the guts to ask me to be his girlfriend!"

"Ohhhhh well in that case you're welcome," I'm so happy they're together they're are going to make such a cute couple!

"We should celebrate!" Emily yells.

"I don't know it's Sunday, it's getting late and we have school tomorrow." I say.

"Oh come on don't be a buzz kill." Chandni replies.

"I heard carters throwing a party." Says Sam

"LETS GO!" They all exclaim.

"Guys I'm not sure..." I start saying.

"Oh come on, live a little!" Payton yells at me.

Claire sees I'm still hesitant and says "please for me." She gives me a puppy dog look and I cave and say I'll go.

"YAYYY!!" Everyone cheers. We all pile into Claire's car and head to carters house. I can't help, but wonder where Claire's parents are they never seem to be home. I'm also curious about why someone's throwing a party on a Sunday. Maybe it's an Asian thing. I get so lost in thought that i don't realize we're here til chandni taps my shoulder. I step out of the car to see a gigantic house with flashing lights. I can even hear the music loud and clear and we're parked pretty far away.

"What have I gotten myself into." I think as we start heading towards the house.
