Hey guys hope you like this book it's my first one I've ever written so I don't now how it's going to turn out so feel free to comment or vote but I would like it if you keep your mean comments to your self I really don't like it when people write mean stuff about my work but I do appreciate nice comments thanks. This chapter it was more or less fun to write but read it carefully because it has a main part in it it will lead to a really good part so pay attention. I'm not going to give any spoilers so you'll just have to figure it out what is going to happen by your self , so here we go. Hope you like it.
Chapter 1 ______________________________________________________________
"I never thought of what my result would be until now"~ Kenna Miller
Kenna's POV
My name is Kenna Miller, I am 18 years old. I live with my mom, dad and my little sister Guen, she is only 14. We live in the city of Ens ( well that is the governments name for it the name before the war was I believe San Antonio). Guen is a very strong hearted girl, she thinks that she can do anything even though sometimes she really can't. My dad works in the government, his closest friend from work his name is maxwell Connery but we just call him max. Max and my dad are in charge of unit 1 but they have been fighting to help control unit 3 because they think that the system isn't working as well as everyone thinks it is, I think it would be good for them to have a bigger say as in what's happening in our community. The government says that we are very lucky to even be in the city after what happened in the war. I live in unit 1 that is where all the people how have not yet been tested and their family's live, after you have been tested you move to unit 2, unless you get marked then you move to unit 3 (dark side of the city).Today is the day of the reveals and I am not nervous, I am absolutely terrified. Today is the day that I find out if I am a special or not, if I get to stay with my family or if I will get sent away. I've never really thought about what my result would be until now.
If you are different then you get marked, I don't exactly know what the mark looks like but if you get it, but it is supposed to hurt like someone is cutting you up. The mark makes a scar so for the rest of your life you know that the government is watching you. I would think that would be a little creepy, but I guess that is how the government punishes you foe being who you are, it is actually kind of mean.
If you are a special and you protest about what the government is doing then you get placed in a cell or cage in the middle of the city so you are hit and punished. If you come out of unit 3 or if you fight back then the government will kill you. Me and my dad think that the system is terrible and that it should be changed.
After breakfast Guen and I start walking over to the building where the revs are taking place. We head inside there are people splitting us into groups, luckily Guen and I are put in the same group Guen is a few people ahead of me. Although she is my little sister she is really good at looking after herself. Guen gets called in first, she has a nervous look on her face but then she gives me a thumbs up and heads into the room. About 10 minutes later a woman calls me over to the next room I don't get to see Guen before I go in.
When I first get in the room it is pitch black, I walk to the centre of the room the light turns on it is almost blinding at first but then I get used to it and I saw a man with a knife standing ten feet away from me he started talking... He kept repeating the same thing over and over again, "come on little girl make a move" then he started walking closer to me swinging his knife back and forth, repeating his chant until he was only two feet away. Then I tried to hit him but before I even touched him something strange happened and everything froze almost as if I was stuck in between an instance in time everything was frozen, everything but me, I began to walk over to the man and so I just sort of poked him,
No movement
I poked him once again and the result was the same,
No movement
So my efforts in poking him failed so I thought why not and so I punched him square across the face and he just went flying straight into the wall with a loud thud. In my amazement as to what I just did, all of a sudden I felt like something changed and everything when back to the way it was... That meant the man could move again. But before he could come at me again he almost flickered then completely disappeared into thin air.
Then all I felts as a terrible pain in my left forearm, I looked down and I saw that I had a big S cut into my arm. I looked up and a woman walked into the room and up to me and said " for you have been marked as a special, the guards will come and get you in the morning and take you to unit 3, hope you enjoy your couple of hours with your family before you have to leave them forever" At that very moment I realized what I am.
