I did it! I finally typed it out!!! My first published fanfic!! *hides face*
Ok, so somehow I have over 35 followers right now??? And I just... THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
Anyways this has been sitting in my notebook for too long and I finally had enough free time to type it out. I'm really slow at typing, so it took me an embarrassing amount to time to finish this. And figuring out that weird form thing you need to fill to publish stuff wasn't easy either.
So this fic is a conversation I think most definitely took place in Flashback. So there will probably be some spoilers until Flashback in this.
I hope you like it!
Keefe puts down his Imparter with a sigh and a frown on his face.
Ro sticks her head in from the doorway, where she'd been standing , not trying to hide the fact that she had been eavesdropping. "I'd ask you why you're frowning but after that conversation, it'd be weird if you weren't."
Keefe flops onto his bed and lets out another sigh. "It's just, Foster's usually willing to at least pay attention to me when we talk. Today she was more interested in polishing goblin throwing stars."
Ro crosses the room and plops onto the bed beside Keefe. "Well, if I was her, I'd be more interested in weapons than a boy as well. All this tells me is that your girl's got her priorities straight."
Keefe shakes his head. "It's different. I feel like Foster and Fitz are leaving me behind. I've always kinda depended on those two to not abandon me because they both know that I'm messed up and still promised not to abandon me. And now they're both leaving me? Fitz hasn't even bothered to hail in FOREVER and Sophie decides to just not pay attention to me when I talk to her? And when I see them both in person, UGHHHH, the sappy Fitzphie feelings make me want to hurl. If Fitzphie becomes real, I won't die or anything, but the fact that both of my closest friends are abandoning me for each other... it just hurts."
Now Ro sighs. "Well, I did tell you not to listen to Alden's 'well meaning advice'..."
"Nope." Keefe interrupts, "We are not having that argument again."
Ro raises an eyebrow. "Fine then. But since you're the one who stayed away from Sophie while she had extra, quality time with Wonderboy, you're not allowed to go all sulky-boy, angst cloud on me, Lord Funkyhair."
Keefe sits up in outrage. "What? No way! I demand time to sulk about the fact that Fitzphie's getting together!"
Ro shakes her head. "Nope, since you chose to let this happen and didn't listen to me, I'm not dealing with your sulking. So, stop whining, or I'm carrying you out of this house and tossing you into the ocean.
Keefe pouts and slumps back onto the bed. "Fine. I won't whine about the fact that Fitz my annoyingly perfect best friend whose life is already amazing and Foster, whose fanclub I am the president of are becoming a thing. Like, probably right now. While I'm stuck in this house my dad, who thinks I'm a disappointment, used to run from my mom, who I wish thought I was a disappointment, as she's out there most probably planning evil stuff with the Neverseen."
Ro scowls. "Look, Mr. My Life Sucks, I know. I'm your bodyguard, the one who's with you almost 24/7, remember? So yeah, I do know that your life is one of the less sparkly lives in your little group of elf friends. Your luck is terrible, I'm not saying it's not, but this problem right now? It's your fault. And I'm not in the mood to deal with your self pity when you could have prevented this by listening to me instead of Alden. I don't care if he's your 'father figure' or whatever, but we both know his 'advice' is sketchy."
Keefe sits up to lean against the headboard, a look of resignation on his face. "Yeah, yeah, I'm done sulking now, so our little heart to heart is done."
Ro shudders. "Good, I wasn't sure how longer I needed to be nurturing or whatever."
She glances around the room. "Actually, pull out that your prank diary. I want to add some entries."
Keefe pouts as he gets up. "It's The Totally Awesome Book Of Pranks, not a prank diary, Ro!"
(The Totally Awesome Book Of Pranks is a notebook/journal/diary thing Keefe keep. He's had it since he was about 11-12ish. In it, he writes down the name of a person and enters all the personalised ways to prank someone. He adds new people to it all the time, and new prank ideas as well. Everyone he knows somewhat well has at least one prank under their name. Lord Cassius, for example, has about 45 pages full of pranks under his name.)
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say."
Keefe peeks at the book as she writes. "What are you doing anyways?"
Ro looks up and smirks. "I've decided that you have too many people to prank back and that quite a few are uninspired. So, I'm adding pranks under the names of people I don't like very much, right now. Like pranks for Wonderboy and Alden..." Ro scowls, "Wait, are all the Vackers just shady? Is it just a family thing?"
Keefe ignores the last part of her statement. "Excuse me! My pranks are works of art! I'd like to see you do better!"
Ro smiles, showing all of her teeth. Keefe adds, "Without injuring them."
Ro groans "But that's not fun."
And, arguing over the finer points of pranks, the two, just for a second, forget all of their other responsibilities and worries and angst. They forget, and just exist together.
*peeks out from behind hands*
How was it? Please give feedback and mallowmelt in the comments!
I laughed so hard when I realized the Vacker family as a whole probably seems super shady to Ro.
Also, Keefe and Ro have a beautiful friendship based on pranks and snark and angst and drama and heartfelt speeches, FIGHT ME HUMANS!!!
I mean, true friendship is being ready to throw your friends in the ocean when they're being too angsty. *wipes away tear*
