I woke up to the unfamiliar sensation of being crushed.
My eyes snapped open almost instantly as memories from last night flooded in.
I turned slowly to look at Felix, who was sleeping peacefully, his heavy arm wrapped around me and pinning my arms to my chest, he was holding my hand tightly, his leg was slugged casually over mine.
With great struggle, I wriggled out from him and pushed him with my foot. I saw with great satisfaction as he came into a close and intimate contact with my carpet.
"Shit..!" For a second I thought he had broken something but then I never get what I want. The bastard poked his stupid head out from the edge of my bed the next second. He looked around the room and finally rested his gaze on me.
"Morning." He smiled, resting his head on his chin.
I sat on my bed with arms crossed. "Get out."
"Maya?" It was my mother struggling with the doorknob. "Open the door."
I jerked up and so did Felix who was rubbing his back. I glanced at my alarm clock, it was almost 6:00 AM
"Err yeah I'm changing," I shouted back looking at Felix who didn't know where to hide, opting to go under the bed, I saw his arm raise from underneath it, gesturing for the okay sign.
"Well, what are you waiting for to open the door?"
"Hold on mom," I said, realizing I had slept with my full makeup on, I kicked my shoes off quickly while rubbing the gray and black smokey shadows off my eyes.
"Morning!" I said nervously as I unlocked the door. "I'll be ready in a sec, do you need something?"
She stood there for a minute, scanning the room, then looked down at me suspiciously. I squinted my eyes at her, pretending to be oblivious.
"Come downstairs when you're ready. Don't take long..." she warned before turning on her Mephisto white shoes. I heaved a sigh of relief and closed the door.
"That was close," Felix said greatly diverted as he rolled out from under my bed.
I looked at him and gave him my best death glare, "Get out! Get out right now!"
"I know, I know." Felix got up and headed towards the window.
Right then, the door opened.
It all happened too fast we just couldn't react to it: Felix hadn't even put a foot outside the window when the door just flew open and there was my mom, looking at us sternly, completely red on the face, her eyes were wide with astonishment, and for what it felt an eternity she just looked at us as if we had just committed bloody murder.
Never, not in all my years of existence, had I ever given a reason to mom to be upset, or disappointed in me. I simply did not know what to do or say. And I knew I had to figure it out, and quick; I only had a few hours before school started and mom had walked straight on Felix and I. I didn't know what to say.
I don't know if Felix figured out why I was so quiet, or if he was thinking of excuses, too, or what. All I knew was that I couldn't stand the silence anymore and went, "this is not what it looks like!"
Why am I such a retard? That sounded even more suspicious!
Mom turned to look at me and I knew I was screwed.
