Fall
A faded green plate
Like dried sage
Sits in front of me.
Pink cake in the center
White frosting
Confetti sprinkles.
I eat until I'm sick.
Too much sugar
Too much pink.
I hear a noise
Turn around to see
Her
It
The thing.
She says nothing.
And
I
Eat
Cake.
Winter
She says the cake will
Kill
Me.
It says the cake is
Poison.
She cuts it in
ha
lf.
She is-
That thing is-
It is-
My mother.
I
Eat
Cake.
Half a cake.
Spring
I can't eat cake.
Dried sage
On a dried sage
Plate.
Because starving is better than
Poison.
I could eat myself
Take a bite of
Blood
And
Bone
With this
Hunger.
There is no summer.
