FROM HELL

CHAPTER 11

I easily moved past the vampires who were making a show. They looked surprised. They clearly knew that Nate and Claire were werewolves but didn't know anything about me. I was beside Nate in an instant and smirked at the vampires who materialized from the shadows. I really don't know what I would do if they attacked. Not that I'm scared but I have never fought a vampire.

Funny I'm seeing a vampire for the first time and thinking about fighting a dozen of them.

"We need to talk"
Nate whispered standing beside me. He never looked at me. Now looking at him, he looked tired. He still looked beautiful. He was still wearing the clothes from the morning.
Who am I telling, I'm still wearing yesterday's clothes. I'm currently dying for a bath.
I took a deep breath and I got a wisp of Nate's scent. I didn't know why I didn't notice before but he smelled like the forest. I inhaled deeply and noticed that he did the same changing his position so he faced the now-gathered vampires. Took so long but I noticed that they were starting to clear out the humans in the background. 
Ohhh, this is so not going to end well

"Who do we have here?"
The suit guy exclaimed from where he stood. I never took my eyes off Nate. He held on a passive face without giving away any emotions.
"Why am I blessed with the honor of your visit, dogs?"
I really don't like him. Most of the humans are evacuated from the place by now and I noted that the door at the entrance has been closed firmly.

Hmm they don't want any one of us to escape

Ashley and Travis are nowhere seen.

"We came to retrieve one of our people. We will leave with her."
Claire announced. I think she was referring to me. She was wearing fitted designer clothes and I think I saw more than one vampire gawking at her.

"Ashley is coming with us."
I said eager to leave the vampire's den. It was infuriating to see Nate with her but need to get Ashley and me out of here.

"She's here?" Nate asked clearly confused.

"No one's going anywhere dear and really didn't get who or what you are? As beautiful as you are, I don't think you're one of us or them. What are you, love?"
Suit guy asked studying me carefully. For the first time today, I'm great full that I wore baggy clothes.
Nate gave out a low growl.
"She's no one you want to know?"
In the meantime, I was searching for the nearby human energy signatures. There are nearly a dozen inside the building. I suspect Ashley is one of them.

"We need to go" Claire said. She was looking at the vampires who were surrounding us.

"I'm not going anywhere without Ashley."

"Where is she?" Nate asked directly looking at the suit gut. I think he was the boss here.

"She's in a safe place so leave"

"Yeah... Nate, we should leave. vampires can't hurt the human cause' it'll break the treaty." Claire stated I think she knew that we 3 wouldn't stand a chance against this many vampires.

"I'm not going anywhere without her" I whispered mostly to myself. Guessing from Claire's reaction she heard it loud and clear.

"Shut the hell up witch. If you never abandoned your work, we never have risked our lives and broken into a vampire's den. "

Nate never came looking for me. He came for his pack. Not for me.

"We will come back for her," Nate said grabbing my arms.

"Oh... and she's not leaving." The suit guy said amused looking straight at me. 

"WHAT?" Nate asked now completely fuming.

"I want to know more about you dear and know that your beautiful friend is still with us." He said never taking his eyes off me. There was a clear threat in his words. I checked each of the human energy signatures inside the building they were all there. I looked back at him, he was studying me intently.

"Why?" was the only thing I managed to ask. I was studying each of the humans inside. There were 10 humans inside. I need to make a distraction. Get inside. Find Ashley and get out of here. As on cue the suit guy gestured at me and the vampire near him moved. He was in front of me in an instant and was about to grab me when I sensed sudden movement beside me. Nate grabbed the vampire by his throat and lifted him in the air.

"No one will touch my mate"

He said in a deep threatening voice. Four more vampires started to approach us slowly like we were some kind of feral dog. He easily threw the vampire in his hands and whispered

"Go."

His body then started to grow and in an instant, my golden wolf was standing in front of me. He stood there on all fours and let out the most nerve-wracking growl I have ever heard in my whole life. It was an instant change. Lynn always said that changing was a hard process and for newly changed wolves it would be painful but for Nate, it looked simple. In an instant, he was a man and the next he was a wolf. He looked beautiful in the wolf form. His golden fur shone and he was huge at least 5 feet tall on all fours.

I knew he said that to me but I couldn't take my eyes off him. Regained from the initial surprise the 4 vampires advanced at him. Nate slashed the first two and bit the third and threw him at the fourth. More vampires started to advance at him. He advanced back at them. His movements were so fast that anyone with normal eyes would see them as a blur. Sensing that all the attention was on Nate and he was doing well with it I moved past the vampires. I grabbed one of the knives at the counter and looked back at Nate. He was thrashing a vampire in his mouth like a rag doll and saw a stark-naked Claire starting to change.

They have to hold till I get Ashley out of here
