Chapter 5

15 2 16

I woke up, wet with sweat from a nightmare. It was the first nightmare I had since, like forever.

I sat up and rubbed my face, rubbing away the tiredness. I glanced to my left and saw Sahara still sleeping deeply.

I don't know if I should wake her up. She needs to get up and get ready for the first lesson of the first day of school.

I'm gonna give her some time and then I will see if she has woken up yet.

I sighed and went into the marble themed bathroom and took a quick shower, blow-dried my hair and put mild makeup on.

It never hurts to put on a good first impression on my new classmates and teachers.

or Hardin.

Wait, why am I thinking of him at 7 in the morning? I still feel bad about what happened to him in his past. He must have gone through so much pain and heartbreak. It wasn't fair on him.

I shook my head and left the toilet to the bedroom to go the connecting walk-in closet.

Sahara was not in her bed. Oh.

Where did she go? she must've gone to grab breakfast early then.

I opened the closet and there on the floor meditating was Sahara. Her legs were crossed and she was breathing heavily. All of a sudden her hands came slamming down on the floor and made me jump back.

I rushed towards her, thinking she was in a seizure of some sort and held her to see if she was okay.

Her eyes opened, "Maddie?"

"Yes, Sahara?"

"I'm okay. I was only...meditating. You can let go of me now."

"oh ok sorry!" I quickly stumbled to a stand and watched as Sahara stood up and brushed invisible dust off her clothes.

"Sahara...what were you really doing?" I questioned.

"uh...well, I was deep in thought and had a sudden urge to hit something. its how I destress ." she pointed out, nodding her head.

I looked down at her, still suspicious. OK, you know what, I feel like Sahara is hiding a lot from me. but it's not like we are besties in just one day, still, it feels bad to not be told the whole story. we are roommates!!

She left the closet so that I could pick my outfit out for the day.

I chose something ordinary, black jeans and a yellow crop top.

As I left the closet, Sahara went in, not looking at me in the eyes.

"Sahara, I'm gonna go to the canteen without you is that ok?".  She replied a muffled fine from the closet.

I walked through the busy halls of the East Wings, full of girls walking into each other's rooms, getting ready for the first school day.

I opened the door to get out of the East Wing of the building to enter the main building.

The doorway opposite from the one I was currently at opened up to reveal Hardin with his brown messy bed-hair and a grey loose t-shirt with leather jeans. He looked like he didn't care if people thought badly of him.

He looked up. His eyes caught mine and he smirked.

I scowled.

Here we go...

Turning right, I walked to the canteen feeling Hardin's stare on me. Hardin followed close behind.

I kept changing speeds to make him leave my tail, however he stuck on me like a piece of gum on my shoe.
We raced to the canteen together.

As there was only one main entrance to the canteen, we slowly came to be walking side by side as we entered the canteen.

That was fun!

I glanced at him sharply, "Can you stop doing that?! It's scaring me!!"

What is it, princess?

Omg, is he gonna start calling me that?

I am because you are one!

I walked over to him, "What are saying? Have you lost your mind?"

He stepped closer to me, "Oh my sweet innocent princess, you don't know anything." he said mockingly.

His face was inches away from mine, his pink lips curled up, smirking at me mockingly. His eyes were a shiny and tempting silver, the colour when the sun shines on the pavement.

I backed away from him. He leaned back up again, "Well princess, one day you will know the full story. However, you won't know it if you stay beside Sahara all the time. I know she's keeping things from you, right?" He asked, looking at me sternly.

I didn't know what to say. He's right. Sahara does seem to be hiding something from me. but it's not right for him to spill the beans without Sahara's consent.

But curiosity is killing me. I really want to know.

"Listen up, princess. why don't you meet me after morning lessons behind the school? I can feel the desire rolling off you. You really want to know. What do you say?" he said, smirking at me.

"ok, I'll be honest, I really do want to know, you know I do, but please let's keep this away from Sahara."

"Yeah ok, I don't care about her anyway," he said, seeming pissed. "Oh look she's coming towards us as we speak. Well, you know where to find me." he saluted at me and walked away.

"Hey, Maddie. What were guys talking about?" Sahara appeared beside me, looking at Hardin's retreating back.

"Nothing important, I just told him to leave me alone." The lies felt bitter on my tongue and I felt bad. It's for the best though. Whatever Hardin must be telling me must be important.

"Forget it, let's go try the food here, I for one know food in high school is the worst, right?" I said changing the subject.

"Can't relate. I went to a private school." Sahara mumbled.

"Oh."

A/N- oml this has been in drafts for too long and now quarantine has me coming back here. It's a good thing tho. I might be able to post a chapter every week if I can. Quarantine is so boring and I'm so fed up, I really miss school and all my friends. I hope all of you guys are ok. Everywhere has different levels of severity and I just hope all of you are safe and keeping healthy.
Sorry again for taking so long to write here!! T_T
