The boys made it to Chenle's house after what felt like an hour-long drive because of the constant bickering going back and forth between Mark and Jeno. They all exited out of the vehicle and walked up to Chenle's door, exchanging small talk as they waited for someone to let them in.
Tearing his attention away from their conversation, Jisung's eyes landed on the silent boy standing next to him. He wasn't sure if their decision of allowing a kid to come with them from the mall was their best idea, although the kid did beg for it.
"Hey." Jisung lightly nudged the kid's shoulder, grabbing his attention. "What's your name?"
"Dobin," the boy answered with a smile that Jisung couldn't help but return.
'Was this really the same kid who used gay as an insult towards me in the mall?' Jisung thought to himself. Dobin seemed much nicer when he wasn't with his friends.
"I'm Jisung," he introduced while holding out his hand to the boy who happily shook it with a bright smile.
"Can I call you Ji?"
Shock displayed across Jisung's face as he froze in his place, Deja Vu hitting him like a truck. This boy was awfully similar to Chenle, in more ways than Jisung could describe. The similarity he could decipher the most was the brightness they both projected off with their smiles. His lips tugged upward while staring down at the boy who threw in a few words in the others' conversation. It was like he was staring at a younger version of Chenle.
"Yeah, kid, you can call me Ji," he confirmed just as the door opened to reveal an obnoxiously loud Donghyuck.
"What's up bit—" Donghyuck gasped mid-sentence when his eyes landed on Dobin. "And who is this sugarplum?" he cooed.
The boys gaped at Donghyuck's tone of voice, never having witnessed him act in such a way. They watched as Donghyuck lifted the boy swiftly into his arms and walked back into the house, slightly swaying in his movements, making it clear to the four that Donghyuck must have had a couple of drinks. And to Jisung, that wasn't a good sign.
Mark was the first to rush in after Donghyuck, worried that the tanned male might drop the boy. "Hyuck, put him down," he directed as he tried to pry Dobin out of Donghyuck's arms.
"No! he's a baby and needs to be carried!" Donghyuck slurred out while keeping a death grip on the boy who began laughing at the situation.
"It's okay, Hyung," Dobin reassured Mark, then whispered with a hand blocking his mouth from Donghyuck's view, "I think he drank too many apple juices."
Mark chuckled while patting Dobin's head and leaned in to whisper back, "I think so too."
"Hey! No keeping secrets from me!" Donghyuck scolded while falling onto the couch with Dobin still in his hold and Mark staying beside them.
Jisung furrowed his brows when walking up to the couch. "Hyuck, where's Chenle and Renjun?" he asked, silently hoping that Chenle wasn't in the same condition as the tanned male.
Another gasp left Donghyuck's mouth. "Oh yeah! I'm it!" he recalled, more so to himself, leaving the four boys to wonder what the hell he was talking about.
"It? It for what?" Jeno pressed.
"Mm, like... Ready or not here I come!" Donghyuck yelled, causing Dobin to cover his ears.
"Great." Jaemin sighed. "They're drunk and are playing hide and seek."
"Achoo!"
Everyone automatically snapped their heads in the direction where they heard a sudden sneeze. Jeno took the liberty of checking where and who it came from. Walking in front of the kitchen sink, he crouched down and opened the cupboard beside it, finding Renjun curled up into a ball inside the tight space. Renjun stared at Jeno with wide eyes, looking flushed from what Jeno guessed was because of the alcohol the boy had consumed. He watched as Renjun's lips jutted out into a pout, realizing he'd been caught.
"Found you," Jeno hummed, pulling the boy out of the cupboards and into his arms.
Renjun kept quiet; a cute angry expression etched in his face as Jeno lifted him up to his feet.
"Injunnie~" Jaemin made his way over to the two, his happiness radiating off him as he pulled Renjun into a bone-crushing embrace.
"Nana, you're gonna kill him." Jeno tried loosening Jaemin's grip around Renjun, but Jaemin was quick to snap at him.
"Shut up, or I'll shove my foot up your ass."
At that, Jeno held his hands up in surrender and zipped his mouth shut, not wanting to face the wrath of his head biting boyfriend.
Jisung chuckled at the scene in the kitchen before bringing his focus back on Chenle. 'Where could he be?' he thought to himself as his eye's landed on the staircase. Figuring it wouldn't hurt to check upstairs, he left Mark by the couch to deal with Hyuck and made his way up the stairs, then into Chenle's bedroom, thinking the boy must be hiding somewhere in here.
"Chenle?" he called out, skimming his eyes around the room, hoping to catch sight of something that would give him a clue as to where Chenle was hiding. "Are you in here?"
Rustling noises under the sheets of Chenle's bed, jolted Jisung in his place, frightening him by the sudden sound and movement. He cautiously walked towards the lump in the bed, carefully peeling the sheets away to reveal a knocked out Chenle. The boy's cheeks were flushed, and his hair was ruffled—sticking up in all kinds of directions. The sight made Jisung chuckle softly. The word 'cute' kept replaying in his mind as he watched Chenle stir around while mumbling a pile of gibberish under his breath.
Jisung sat at the edge of the bed while keeping his eyes locked on Chenle, cheeks hurting from how much he was smiling down at the boy. He brought his hand up to Chenle's head and gently caressed it, evoking a quiet hum from him. Chenle shifted to lay on his side, absentmindedly pulling Jisung's arm to cuddle with, causing Jisung to lean uncomfortably—his arm kept hostage by Chenle's tight hold.
Not wanting to wake the boy, Jisung stealthily maneuvered himself to lay beside Chenle, their faces inches apart. It felt nice to admire Chenle's peaceful state of sleep; his cute mumbles to the scrunch of his nose he'd do every so often. It was really a sight to see. Jisung couldn't help but treck his eyes over every single detail and imperfection on Chenle's face—memorizing it as if he were studying for an exam.
Jeno was right. He was a lovesick puppy, yearning, and craving for Chenle's love and attention. Maybe now... he and Chenle could rekindle a new friendship that could possibly blossom into something more than just a friendship. Maybe, Chenle could restore the hollow in his heart and give him back the treasures of calling him lele and staying by his side.
... Perhaps he won't.
