Monday, the day they were to hand in their projects and wait for their grades to be posted after school. Jisung and Chenle had done their best to revive their project, spending their whole Sunday keeping the simulated infant in a bucket of rice in hopes that the rice would absorb all the water from it. And fortunately, for them, it worked.
"Our grade is doomed," Jisung said in a defeated tone while the others kept eating their lunches, unbothered by the boy's troubles.
"Look on the bright side, Ji," Mark, who was seated beside him at the table, began. "Even if you fail this project, you still have Chenle. I'd say that's a win," he reassured, patting Jisung's back with a little too much force.
"I agree," Jeno voiced out before stuffing his face with noodles.
"You agree with what?" Jaemin questioned when walking up to the table with Renjun and Chenle, who took their seats while he stayed standing.
Jeno glanced up at Jaemin, smiling when seeing his boyfriend, looking beautiful as ever. "Nothing, nana. Come, sit." He gestured to the chair beside Renjun, ignoring his boyfriend's eye-roll towards the dodge of his question.
"Hey, where's Donghyuck?" Mark asked, skimming his eyes around the cafeteria in attempts to find the tanned male.
"He said he needed to finish up a lab project," Renjun answered while stabbing a straw into his juice box. "He also told me to tell you to meet him at the science lab," he added, trying his best to ignore the two hands that had made themselves comfortable on his thighs, causing him to give side glares to the couple who were happily sitting on either side of him.
Mark stood up abruptly, pointing a finger to himself, unsure if he heard Renjun correctly. "Me? He wants me to meet him there? Why? I mean not that I'm complaining or anything. If he wants to see me than I'd be hap—"
"Would you just go already," Jisung grumbled, annoyed with Mark's blabbering.
"Right, sorry. See ya, guys."
They watched as the raven-haired boy bolted his way out of the cafeteria, leaving his friends unimpressed with how obvious his crush towards Donghyuck was.
"Jisung, stop looking so glum." Chenle poked Jisung's cheek. "We won't fail. I don't think the water did anything to affect our grade," he tried to reassure, but Jisung only hid further into his arms, muffling what Chenle couldn't hear. "What?"
Jisung lifted his head and gave Chenle a hesitant look that made the boy worry. "Actually... Donghyuck might've screwed up our grade," he confessed as his eyes dropped to the simulated infant that sitting on Chenle's lap.
Chenle blinked, brows furrowed and mind confused. "Huh? What are you talking about? You mean the time we left Tama with Hyuck to skip school?" he interrogated.
Shaking his head, Jisung heaved a sigh before shifting in his chair so that his body was facing Chenle's. "Friday, when the three of you got drunk, I accidentally left Tama in Jeno's car. And Donghyuck... I don't know what he did specifically but—"
"Calm down, Ji," Jeno interrupted, giving Jisung a smug grin. "I was only joking when I told you that."
Like a bomb that had been set off, Jisung exploded, leaping over the lunch table to grab for Jeno's collar, bringing the boy close to his face. "Now, I understand why Mark's always trying to kill you," he seethed.
Jeno nervously chuckled while trying to pry Jisung's tight grip off of him.
Brrrriiiingggg~
Saved by the bell, Jisung released Jeno's collar, making sure to shove the boy back with as much force as he could, resulting in Jeno stumbling back into his chair.
"Let's go, Ji. We have to hand in Tama before Mr. Lee starts marking attendance," Chenle urged, picking up his school bag with Tama in one arm.
"Good luck," Jaemin beamed, sending the two an enthusiastic thumbs up.
Jisung tsked, giving Jeno one last glare before following in pursuit of Chenle's footsteps out of the cafeteria.
