Chapter 6

"Let me get this straight. You don't know who this vampire is or how he got down there, just that he's been dessicated for some unknown reason and he wants you to- to wake him up."

MG and Kaleb look at each other before looking at Ric. "Yeah, that about covers it."

"Unless I'm missing something I would say let him rot."

"We don't even know what he's doing down there in the first place."

"Well neither do I but it's safe to say no one is dessicated from being too nice."

"Okay but that doesn't mean he's guilty." Ric's eyes fall downcast during Kaleb's rambling. "And even if he is, what crime equals that kind of time."

"Hypothetically, the slaughter of a couple dozen villages." Ric looks over at MG. "You're awfully quiet over there MG."

"Uh um, I'm- I'm leaning Kaleb's way on this one. Vamps before- non-vamps." Kaleb looks over at MG with a thankful smile.

"That's enough."

"If you want my vote, I say don't do anything till you know more about this guy." MG cuts in before Ric can say anything else.

"I respect that Dr. Saltzman but he said he'll leave town. We should at least give him a shot-" Kaleb turns and looks at MG. "To keep his word." Kaleb then turns to Ric.

"And I vote we hold tight like Dr. S said." Kaleb turns to MG and sits on the desk behind him. "Figure out what Sebastian really wants."

"How are we gonna do that?"

"You leave that to me alright?" MG storms out and Kaleb smiles as he and Ric stand up to face each other. "Thanks for the wisdom man."

"I know you don't want to think about this but the real world isn't resetting like this stupid one is." Hope turns to Lizzie as the blonde talks to her and they continue walking. "Which means we are rapidly approaching Josie's unexpected journey there and back again." Lizzie suddenly gasps. "Beartrap." Both girls hop over the bear trap.

"I'm not gonna talk about it." Lizzie scoffs out loud.

"Ugh, why not?"

"Because it's not gonna change anything." Both girls suddenly stop. "Arrow." An arrow flies in front of them and embeds itself into the tree as a guy yells 'sorry' in the distance.

"Be more careful next time Frank!" They duck under the arrow and continue walking. "It would change everything."

"No, it won't. When I saw that portal I knew that there was only one way to stop the monsters from coming. I'm just gonna have to jump back in and close it." Both stop walking and turn to each other. "Everyone's just gonna forget me all over again. I was created to be the loophole that ends Malivore, it's the only reason I exist. It's my, destiny." Both girls' heads whip back when they hear the deep bellow of the keeper's beast and they see it running through the trees towards them.

"Run." They run into an open area and the beast gets trapped in a circle of spikes. They keep running through the open area and avoid spike after spike as they shoot up, out of the ground until they reach the other side. "Come on. The school should be through here." They push through the thick branches but when they get through they're back in the town square. They both look at each other with confused looks on their faces but look up when they hear a familiar voice.

"Oh hey!" It's the keeper and she's in a hot pink leotard and cyan leggings, exercising. "Ready to take that deal yet?"

"Ready to take this maze and shove it up your-" They start following after the keeper.
