the transparent, glass chandelier, twinkled and shined as a sparkling light against the blinding lightbulb, creating a light to illuminate the ballroom.

and if athena looked up at the light long enough, she would eventually look down in pain, as her vision would become blurry and she would see begin to see black spots.

she did this every minute or so. as she had an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and was high off of molly; she couldn't help but wonder if there could be a different outcome. more positive outcome.

realizing that there would be wouldn't be, she sighed; shaking her head before walking off to get a drink.

she waited by the entrance of the ballroom for almost an hour. yearning to see the curly, long, raven hair that belonged to her boyfriend.

although he said he'd be there, he promised he'd be there — there was no sight of him.

it was a shock to even herself that her deteriorated state didn't cause her to leave much sooner in a huff.

but this day was different. it's like her body was ready to be waiting for long.

like she knew she was going to be let down.

she ran a distressed hand through her already volumized hair. she looked around before shuffling around the ballroom, trying to spot robert or perhaps john.

bonzo didn't like her very much, so she wouldn't bother asking him for help.

she sat on a lone table, pouting as she stared at all the couples enjoying their time at the party.

athena couldn't help but ponder why james didn't touch her like the many men with their women in public. didn't appreciate her like that. didn't look at her the way she did with him. yet, she looked at him like he was her moon and stars.

because he was.

she shook her head, trying to ignore her thoughts. perhaps she was just growing annoyed with the thought that he was late, as he was to (mainly) everything. she got up, planning to walk over to the alcohol.

she looked around, marvelling at how huge the room was. an amazing view that she would have liked to enthuse about to james.

before she knew it, she was at the dance floor.

her thoughts became erratic. as she snaked through the crowd, she began to sweat profusely. her eyes flickered back from the crowd of people around her, to the alcohol table, back up to the ceiling and then her mind looped back around to the crowd of people.

this trip felt like a different drug than before. she wondered if jimmy had given her quaaludes as well.

her head began to feel dizzy from feeling overwhelmed, and she was sure others were able to tell.

a few moments passed, she was practically through all the pushy crowd. a man rushed to her side, most likely noticing that she was under the influence. he began to question her incoherently. she shook her head, denying him anything he was inquiring her for.

athena realized she couldn't stay here much longer, as she would probably pass out in the arms of a stranger; which james would not be happy about.

she stumbled out of the crowd, clumsily bumping into robert. she gulped, as she knew he would question her.

robert scowled, as they collided quite harshly against each other. he turned around to see who had bumped into him, and was surprised to see athena.

he laughed politely, clearly intoxicated.

"athena! cheers... what are you doin'? where's jimmy?" he greeted drunkenly.

she shook her head at the mention of james, becoming upset with how the night had turned out.

"i...i need to get out of here." athena murmured to him, walking off almost rudely.
