"Come on, let's try one more time."

I glanced over at my older sister to see a look of determination on her face. I no doubt had a similar expression on my features with a hint of reluctance, "But Marie, are you sure it will be okay? We've never tried a spell this before."

"Sang, if we are going to survive like the other students at that school, we need to fit in even a little. I've had more practice, but back in Illinois, you were always introverted. I won't be able to protect you that well this time. And besides, you know, Dad doesn't use it anymore, and Mom's too weak to stop us. We have to be the ones. Besides, it's for a good reason," Marie answered before turning to the small plate on the table with the small pile of leaves in the center, "Now make sure she's still asleep, and let's try again."

I held my finger up to my lips to silence her. We had to make sure our Mom wasn't awake and wouldn't cause us to lose our concentration. I closed my eyes, and when I could hear the faint snores coming from upstairs I breathed a sigh of relief, "She's still out,"

"Good, now let's do this," Marie took my hand, and we both closed our eyes and began chanting.

"These worthless leaves become our prize, turn into cash before our eyes. Non-magic folk won't realize, our currency is in disguise."

We continued chanting until a quick, bright light filled the basement, so bright we could see it behind our eyelids. Just as it appeared, it was gone. I opened my eyes and looked down. A gasp escaped my mouth, "Marie?"

Marie picked up the leaf turned dollar bill and smiled, "Sang it worked we did it!" She reached into her pocket, fishing out a real dollar bill and set it down on the table next to the newly made one, "It looks the same! An exact copy!"

I picked up one of the other bills and studied it. I hadn't seen much money in my life, but from what I had seen, I could tell it indeed looked precisely like what Dad would keep in his wallet, "Do you think we made enough?"

"We will have to make more as we go, but for now, this should be fine. And as promised," Marie picked up the 'bills' and counted them out evenly into two separate piles, "There, now remember to keep it safe. I believe as long as we have our Magic, the leaves will stay like this."

"As long as we have it?" I asked.

"I read in great-great grandma's journal that if one of us reveals our magic to a non-magic person, exceptions made; however, our magic will be ripped from us and all the spells we ever did would be erased or undone," Marie explained.
