A lot of the Hatakes injuries were serious and required a lot of recovery time, to which it seemed that Obito had no intention of letting Kakashi leave any time soon. Deep down Kakashi was happy to see that the Uchiha was alive and kicking, but at the same time, he felt frustrated. Not with Obito but himself. He felt so many different emotions it was hard to keep track of, just so much weighed down on him that it was difficult to focus on recovering, and before anyone knew it time seemed to pass quickly. It had already been two months.
Two months' worth of the two spending time together. Though they didn't really talk much, not that he really minded. Cause truth be told, Kakashi wasn't sure how to talk or what to say to the man. Not after everything, he wasn't even sure if Obito knew about Rin. That's what really bugged him the most.
Obito just helped with cleaning his wounds, bandaging them, and then also feeding and watering the Hatake. Sometimes Kakashi felt as if he was some sort of house plant or something but regardless a lot of the male's smaller and not-so-serious wounds had healed over. Then as for the more serious larger lacerations on his back, they were getting better and were starting to scar over like a faint memory. The only issue that the silver-haired male saw, was one. After being gone for so long, no doubt his team and village were worried. Then two, after being bedridden for over two months, he was quite weak to the point walking became quite the issue, embarrassingly having to ask the Uchiha for assistance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The silver-haired male silently sat patiently on the large bed with his hands in his lap. Thinking to himself quite intensely, upon his thoughts he found a solution to one of the problems that troubled the copy ninja. Hoping he had managed to manifest enough chakra during his recovering time, he bit down on his thumb creating a small cut. But it was big enough for blood to seep out and that's all that really mattered. He began to weave the propper signs hoping he had enough chakra before slamming his hand down on the bed he was sitting on.
"Summoning Jutsu!" Kakashi called out and with a puff of white smoke, the all too familiar dog summoning Pakkun appeared just before him.
"Ah, Kakashi long time no see," Pakkun said briefly, letting his eyes wander around the room. An unfamiliar room. "Where are we?"
"An old friend's place. But either way, I need you to do me a favor,"
"Sure. What's up?"
"Can you go to the Hidden leaf village and inform the fifth Hokage, that the mission had failed. I and the Anbu black ops were ambushed and cornered. They were all wiped out and I was seriously injured but I'm fine and have taken refuge somewhere safe. I'll be returning when I can," Truth be told. Kakashi should have thought about this solution sooner, but it was what it was.
"Hm," Pakkun let out a brief huff. Eyeing Kakashi for a brief moment but gave a slight nod of his head. "Alright, but couldn't have written that on paper?"
"Does it look like I have a scroll or paper on me?"
"fair enough,"
The silver-haired male just rolled his eyes and shifted slightly. Leaning over and sliding the window off to his left, open for the furry friend.
"Alright, guess ill be off then," Pakkun stated before jumping through the window and began to make his way to the village. Leaving the copy ninja to himself in the room at least that's what he believed.
"Leaving out some details huh?"
Kakashi would have spun around in an instant, but already knew it was Obito. He closed the window, before shifting and getting into a comfortable sitting position or well as much of a comfortable position as he could get. He was still healing, and certain movements still caused the male pain, not to mention the last thing he needed was any of them trying to reopen. After settling, his eyes wandered over to look at the raven-haired male leaning up against the frame of the doorway with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Wasn't sure if you wanted me to give those details," Kakashi said simply, watching the lean figure just as he watched him. Hatake knew he just got settled into a decent position to relax but still so much bugged him. He might as well get it off his chest, maybe then it would relieve some of the weight that bore down on him. He shifted once again and swung his legs over to one side of the bed before attempting to stand up.
His legs felt so weak like they were just ready to crumble underneath him. But he tried his best to keep them stable, using the bed as support for his wobbling legs. Using it to hold him up. When he looked up once again, the Hatake took notice on how intently the Uchiha was staring at him.
"Need some help?"
"No," Kakashi said harshly, not really meaning to. Maybe he should have remained seated, but if he did that it would just take him longer to get back onto his feet and moving. "But Obito. I know you said to hold off on all the questions until I was fully recovered, a couple of weeks ago. But I just need answers. If you were alive all this time, why didn't you come home? Why? Where have you been? Do you- do you.." He stuttered slightly, his gaze wandering off to look at the floor. "Do you know about Rin?" The copy ninja just felt like breaking down, right then and there but held firm. Though He was hurting. Kakashi knew back then how much Rin meant to Obito, even went as far as to make Kakashi promise to protect her. A promise he sadly could not keep and the memory forever haunted him. Just as Obito's 'death' did, and truthfully. Kakashi wondered if he had ever really gotten over their deaths.
The thought of Obito hating him. Dispising him for not keeping his promise hurt the shinobi more than he was willing to ever admit or show.
Everything went silent and the tension became thick as Kakashi awaited a reply from the Uchiha. His anxiety only growing more and more within him. Soon his eyes left the floor to look at the other male, his body had stiffened and his eyes showed uncertainty.
He tried to take a step closer to his old friend but his legs buckled underneath him, causing him to stumble and fall. Just as he was about to catch himself, Obito had beat him to it. Grabbing ahold of the silver-heads forearms firmly and steading the male.
"I'm sorry Kakashi. I should have come home but after Rin's death, I couldn't bring myself to," Obito said briefly looking down at the shorter male whose emotions were all over the place. "I know about Rin's death. I know that she died by your hand. But I also know that she chose to die by your hand, I know that she wanted to die because the hidden mist put something in her that would be used to destroy the hidden leaf,"
Hatake's heart seemed to race a mile a minute, so much that it was painfully loud in his eardrums. He hadn't even realized he was holding his breath until he finally exhaled lowering his head to look down at the floor once again. "I'm sorry Obito. I couldn't keep my promise," He breathed out, closing his eyes but felt a hand grip his chin and force his head to tilt up to which in response Kakashi once again opened his eyes to find them lock onto Obito's, who was keeping him up on his feet.
"You kept your promise Kakashi. Though you didn't really have a say in the matter. You kept Rin from becoming a weapon that would make her destroy everything she loved and wished to protect. So thank you..,"
Kakashi's breath just got caught in his throat as he stared at the taller male. A sort of relief washing over the shinobi along with other emotions he hadn't felt for a long while. Not since back when he was a kid on Team 7.
Silence began to drag on between the two, the two just deeply staring into the eyes of each other as if they were just boring into the soul of the other. Kakashi wasn't even sure what to say in response but decided to be the one to break the silence this time while also moving to pull away from the Uchiha.
"Ahem. I um.. I'm glad you don't hate me.. but even still I don't think that sort of guilt is gonna go away so soon. Now um.. Ima sit back down," Kakashi said, feeling slightly awkward as any normal person would. Just as he was pulling away from Obito's grasp, Obito held onto the shorter male firmly pulling him closer and almost making the silver head tumble. A growl escaping the Uchiha, sending a shiver down the Hatake's spine.
"No. How about we work on getting you to walk? hm? It would be a shame if I have to keep catching you when you fall" The Uchiha said in a teasing tone, a smirk crawling onto his lips looking down at the bewildered copy ninja.
Obito wasn't gonna let Kakashi feel guilty for something had no control over. So he decided to distract the shinobi from that guilt and make up for the years he left Kakashi to deal with the grief of losing everyone he cared for.
Kakashi was about to protest but Obito had begun taking steps backwards, urging for the other male to take steps forward and follow his lead, being sure to hold him tightly so he wouldn't collapse or fall. Kakashi hesitantly complying, subconsciously gripping onto Obito.
They continued to do this to the point Kakashi was starting to take proper steps without wobbling but stopped when Obito's back hit the wall accidentally tugging the shorter male closer to the point their chests were flush against each other.
"Uh sorry," Obito whispered, letting out a light chuckle as blood began to rush up to the silver heads face, luckily his mask was in place hiding any redness that decided to show up on his face. Kakashi was quite thankful sometimes that he always wore a mask but something caught his eye as he stared at the man before him.
Obito's hand was reaching up to pull down that very mask and his face was inching closer. Why? A better question, why was he himself also inching closer to Obito. If they got any closer than they already were, Kakashi's face was gonna turn into a tomato. Snapping out of his bewildered state, he quickly turned his head away moving to pull away causing the Uchiha to Pause. "Um! I'm gonna go sit back down now!" Kakashi said quickly, taking notice of something that flashed in the Uchiha's eyes.
"No, here," Obito stated briefly, shifting slightly before picking up the shinobi.
"Hey! Wait! Put me down! Obito!" Protested the copy ninja as he tried to wiggle out of the Uchiha's grasp, but he just shook his head and brought Hatake over to the bed, carefully setting him down before moving away. "There you go. Now get comfortable ill be back with some food," Obito said staring at the silver-haired male for a few minutes before making his way out of the bedroom quicker than he usually would.
Leaving Kakashi to complain and dwell on his emotions.--------------------------------------------------------------------------
