A week has passed, since the King Daerik incident, yet the princesses couldn't get their mind off of the man and the meaning of his arrival. They just couldn't wrap their heads around it, but each to their own, they dug some informations. Little did they know, that they weren't the only ones worried about the future that is yet to come...
Walking in circles around her room, princess Ainnea impatiently waited for Stella to arrive with the book she asked to bring her from the library. What is so interesting about this piece of parchment, you're asking? Well, this particular book was holding the entire history of the Kingdom of the Light... All the important dates, events and people. Everything was written in this book, as well as-
Knock. Knock. Knock. Skillfully, the maid got inside of the room, holding large book with thick cover and a lock. Silver details around the edges of the book, kept it safe from being destroyed by time or natural causes. From the edges of the book were spread curled up lines forming a pattern that seemed to represent magic and in the middle of it were three hearts joined together. Without any surprise, this was a heavy book, one that such delicate hands of a princess should never pick up, yet the beautiful maiden ran towards the maid and quickly grabbed the book out of her hands, "Oh, you're finally here."
"Forgive me, but your mother was in the library, I couldn't take the book right away.", Stella said, only now that her hands are free, being able to tuck her hair back inside of the hat. From all the hurry, and hiding, her hair managed to peek out and fly around at its will. She was still catching her breath, but she felt like it was the least of her worries right now.
The princess set the book on her bed and stood straight, raising her hands above the lock, "Dark, evil forces you have to block. I, hereby, command you to unlock!" As she spoke, she got enveloped in the blue light, the shine seemingly pouring from her hands onto the book. The lock started shaking and after a few moments clicked open. In all honesty, she could have just said Unlock! and it would have opened, but she was always the creative type.
Stella applauded excitedly, "I'll never get tired of that."
The girls chuckled and sat on the bed, opening the book. The book was enchanted so only royal blood could open it, therefore Stella had to keep her hands away, or else it will lock itself again. The handwritten book surely left one amazed by the beauty of both the handwriting and pictures that were there for both, decoration and illustration of some of the events. "Here!", princess exclaimed happily, "It's the Legend of the Three Hearts! The first triplets."
"Well, read it. I wish to know what it says.", Stella stared at the book, unable to decipher any of the letters. She wasn't illiterate, the book was enchanted so that she could see everything, but couldn't understand a thing.
"Alright, alright.", princess chuckled, "It's describing their birth... When the three drops of light fell upon the earth, from them grew three trees that enlaced to look like one. The trees gave only three heart-shaped fruits. The knight of the Kingdom of the Light, walked past by these trees and took the fruit back to the castle with him. He gave it as a gift to the pregnant Queen and she ate it. It was said she ate nothing more sweet and sour at the same time, golden from the outside, but darker as it got to the core, that was pitch black. When she gave a birth to three beautiful and healthy little girls, the King brought a psychic to the castle, wanting to see if there was any meaning behind this extraordinary line of events. It is not known for sure what the woman said to the King, for it was a secret, but the prophecy she gave was that the power of the three hearts will either save, or destroy the world.", the princess stared at the page dumbfounded by the information she just gathered.
Stella was looking at her amazed, only able to mumble, "No way!", however, seeing her dear friend so upset by the sudden weight of her knowledge, she put a hand on her shoulder, "I'm sure the prophecy is just a part of a story to make it sound legendary. Is there anything else regarding the matter?"
Princess Ainnea shook her head, "No... They say the rest of the story is written in the ballroom frescoes. I never bothered asking my teachers or my parents to solve the puzzle for me." Sighing, she closed the book and smiled, "Perhaps, you're right. And even if it is real, this kingdom already had the Trinity rule. My sisters and I must be just weird coincidence..."
"Indeed.", Stella said and took the book, standing up from the cozy princess' bed, "I will be sneaking this gigantic book back into the library. You should probably attend the family lunch. I hear there are very little vegetables on the Menu today!"
The girl chuckled and snuck out of the room, leaving princess alone in her world of thoughts. Princess stood up as well, and walked over to the window. The mountain seemed endlessly far away, yet, she somehow felt, that if she reached out, she could touch those perfect peaks, flora and fauna of the great wall, created thousands of years ago... Hugging herself, she looked at the mountain and beyond, exhaling heavily at the simple sight of it, "I know you came here that night for a reason. I can't decipher that prophecy on my own... However, that doesn't mean I'm going to give up. Mark my words, King Daerik, I'm going to find out what it means and when I do, the world really will either finally become a better place, or it will be destroyed. This isn't a threat, it is a promise.", she finished her speech, looking as determined as ever to do this, but she knew she wouldn't be able to do it on her own, she was going to need a help from two very special ladies...
And all the way across that wall, a tall dark figure stood in a blood red room, next to the window, facing the great wall. Not a single feature was visible, but those perfect lips and a signature smirk. He brought a glass of red wine forward, as if making a toast, "And here's to your success, princess. Good luck on this hunt. You'll need it." He took a sip of the dark liquid and let out a loud laugh, that sounded more like a growl, revealing a set of perfect fangs, covered in bloody colour of the wine.
