I woke up one the floor, and sunlight was already streaming through my window. How long was I out? I thought. I sat up and groaned, my back hurt from sleeping on the hard floor.
Wait....why was I sleeping on the floor.
The action struck me as odd, since I remembered sleeping on my bed....but then I remembered the eerie eyes, and quickly looked under my bed again. All that was there were some stinky gym shoes. I didn't know if I was disappointed or relieved, but I did know that the memory of those blue eyes last night didn't seem real. Maybe it wasn't...
My phone started to ring, snapping my mind back into reality with the first Death Note opening song. I quickly answered it, fearing it would wake up Johnny. The last thing I needed was a ten-year-old boy in my room.
Jamie's voice drifted through my speaker. "Hey girl! Yesterday was fun! Wanna go to the mall with me and Alyssa today? I really need some new outfits so I can impress the new kid!"
"Hey Jamie- wait, what new kid?" I tried, but could not remember any new kids at our high school.
"DIANA! Don't tell me you forgot! Isaac Demmings, the super-hot guy who waved at me on Friday!"
"The Mexican kid?"
"YUSS! ISN'T HE SO PERF!?"
"Uh," I didn't really understand 'perf' so I just went along with it. "Totally."
"Anyways, wanna go to the mall?"
"Sure, let me ask my mom."
"Okay! Bye!"
"Wait, Jamie-" but before I could finish, she hung up. Wow, sometimes she was a little too energetic, especially when it came to boys. But I supposed that was just part of being a teenage girl...A part I was completely okay with skipping.
I walked out of my room with a cautious glance at my bed, not even bothering to put on fresh clothes or re-do my makeup since the only people in my house were my mom, dad, and brother.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
"Annie! Why don't you come out of your room and meet someone?" My mom was in the living room, so that's where I went, wondering who could be here. It was Sunday, most people were in church, but I guess some people skip or simply don't go, like my family. Heck, you could not catch my dad dead in a church. I turned the corner, only to come face to face with my mother, who quickly pulled me to the couch. It was then that I noticed our guests, a boy and what looked like his father. And guess who that boy was?
Isaac. The Mexican kid.
"Annie-"
"It's Diana, mom...."
"-this is the Demmings family, Isaac and his father, Tom. Guys this is my daughter, Diana." Oh god, kill me now. I hate meeting people. I looked up at Isaac, studying his appearance. I guess I could see how Jamie thought he was hot.... He had messy dark brown hair and tan skin, along with chocolate-colored eyes and a sly smile that seemed permanent. He also wore glasses, which only added to his charm. I must have blushed, because the smile across his full lips widened in amusement. That was when I realized I probably looked terrible. I mean, not only had I just woke up, but I just woke up from sleeping on the floor and my unbrushed hair probably made me look like a trolls long lost cousin!
"Diana, don't stare," my mom whispered in my ear. I quickly dropped my gaze, only to find myself staring at his shoes. Dang, I've always wanted a pair of blue converse.
"Well, we should get going, still lots of work to do fixing the house up and making it more like home." Tom politely shook my hand and looked to Isaac. "You two will see each other tomorrow, won't you? I'm sure you'll get along great, I mean Isaac likes those Japanese cartoons too." At that point, both of us teens just stared at each other, each in a different anime t shirt, and I'm not sure if it's ever been that silent in my house.
We said our goodbyes and the two left, yet as they walked out the door, I saw a shadow in the corner of my vision. I tried to ignore it, but it started to come closer. I turned slightly to get a better look at it, and it stopped. It was the same thing I had seen before I fell asleep last night, so naturally I was curious, if not a little scared, as to what it was. I had a nagging feeling this was important. With that thought, I blinked, and it was gone.
"Um, Diana? Hun, why are you staring at the wall?"
